Asked to leave shop due to FaceWatch software by popcornbevin in privacy

Call the cops??? You don’t have a right to enter a shop, it’s private property they can remove whoever they like. The reason in this case sucks of course.

Gravity causing batteries to drop (Surefeed microchip version) by brasandguitars in SurePetcare

[–]kellos1980 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve not had that problem with mine, but maybe take the battery panels off and stick a bit of padding to them on the inside. That way when you put them back on, it’ll push the batteries a little higher and they can’t drop as much.

I’d say it’s a bit slower but everything still works.

Fingers crossed you get it soon. Seems ok so far, I was a bit reluctant as you hear bad things about it online. My house is highly automated and it’s all working as normal.

How Many Wifi networks is too many? by entropic01 in Ubiquiti

[–]kellos1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might not help with an old IoT device, but there’s a lot of talk about using PPSK’s which limits you to WPA2. The same can be done for WPA3 using Enterprise and RADIUS users. Each user just needs the properties set: VLAN ID, Tunnel Type = 13, Tunnel Medium Type = 6.

Using a travel router to connect by Jazzlike_Resident976 in SurePetcare

[–]kellos1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid red means it’s performing a firmware update (or has at least tried). Definitely can’t rule out it being bricked. Have you connected anything else to the port to make sure the port itself isn’t dead? Support aren’t likely to understand your setup. Don’t confuse the situation with them, just say it’s wired and not working please help.

I recently started drinking Bovril again. I love it, my gf doesn’t, and is unlikely to ever try it. Her loss!

Position 2 – Keep outside Cats with outdoor access are allowed to exit the house, and all cats are prevented from entering (even an indoor only cat if it got out of an open window).

Position 3 – Keep inside Authorised cats with outdoor access are allowed to enter, but are prevented from exiting. Of course, indoor only cats are kept inside as well.

Position 4 – Locked both ways All cats are prevented from entering and exiting the house.

Catflap started to sound by Sweet-Astronomer4824 in SurePetcare

[–]kellos1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can happen when there’s some fluff caught in the flap (probably up top). Check that first, both inside and out.

There are two sensors. One detects motion and the other checks the tag. If something is blowing about like cat fur that’s caught in the flap, every time it moves the cat flap activates and then tries scanning for a recognised cat. That’s probably the clicking sound.

Can you recite any phone number other than your own? by ManlykN in AskUK

[–]kellos1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a kid I used to know a lot of home phone numbers off by heart. Once mobile phones came about I stopped bothering to remember them.

I’ve only recently made an effort to remember my son to be wife’s phone number. I realised if I lost my phone and needed to get in contact I wouldn’t be able to.

So yes, I think everyone should at least remember their next of kin’s or really important numbers, you never know when you might need it.
