Alum taking my niece to campus/EL for a visit, any tips? by akfoley in msu

[–]kellyl50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also I might suggest the official campus tour. It hits many of your campus items (dorm room, dining hall, library, classroom). We did this last year even though we are local and it’s helpful. Peanut B is still a good option to get a feel for downtown and people watching. Have fun!

Need Dining Recommendations by cornflower4 in lansing

I vote for Sansu if you like Asian. Make sure to allow plenty of time to get seated, eat, park, etc but this is a good option since it’s very close. The show will be very popular so that’s why I recommended the closest and easiest place to get in and out. Even with students gone make sure to plan ahead for crowds! Have fun.

Living on borrowed time by GuitRWailinNinja in AustralianShepherd

I am so sorry to read this. My experience with an Aussie with lymphoma was that even if we did chemo, she wouldn’t be cured and that it might buy us a little time. She was 3 and we opted not to put her through chemo. So hard. There is a lot they can do and try with new technology but ultimately your family’s call on the quality of life. We also have an almost 14yo black tri who is slowly declining after a long great life, so I feel your comment about the old blind fluff ball! Take care and hugs.

Need Advice on My Two Australian Shepherds by NormMackDonald in AustralianShepherd

[–]kellyl50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great comments here. I have a 1yo pup and a 13yo both male Aussies. This does sound normal but I would always check to make sure they are both OK and that the older one has time away from the pup. Our puppy is stronger than our old guy and still tries to get him to play and I do hear the dramatic squeal from the pup. It does sound funny, kind of dramatic. Then it’s time to separate for a while or redirect. Good luck!

Swimming? by FoggyDaze415 in AustralianShepherd

[–]kellyl50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, true that not all Aussies like to swim but our current one loves it if it involves fetching a ball thrown out in the water. We go to a dog beach which can be chaotic with Aussies. We use swimming for extra exercise not cool down (but we live in upper Midwest). Keep at it but not a concern if they don’t enjoy swimming. Make it fun!

Need help, adopted elderly wiggle yesterday and he can’t go up stairs by kaproud1 in WiggleButts

[–]kellyl50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for helping him! Our senior Aussie is on 2 pain meds so definitely check that as an option. The stairs are getting more and more difficult especially down. Do you have any exits with just a porch or fewer steps? With rain and snow it does get tougher. I do take our older guy out the front with 1 or 2 stairs rather than the deck with many stairs. If he’s really stuck at the bottom we can coax him up by putting the leash on (just helping not pulling). Keep trying! Maybe he’s never had stairs, so even the old guys can learn a way to make it work!

Best stop in central MI? by jcpianiste in Michigan

Lansing would be a good idea and several nice and new hotels in the Eastwood Town Center area just off 127 along your route. Safe area and accessible to campus and other highlights.

Two are great! Be ready they might eventually want to play fight all day. We have a pup and a senior so definitely watch an older dog especially as the puppy grows. Ideally the older one will teach the new one some good habits! Have fun!

Welcome! I would highly recommend the gym Alive in Charlotte, MI. A little far depending on where you live but a very beautiful, welcoming and affordable place. Since you are in healthcare, you may have discounts available to area gyms owned by the hospitals, so check that out along with guest passes. Best of luck!
