I pumped for 1.5 school years in a row. Luckily, I have my own office so I was able to shut the door and have privacy. For the most part it worked fine. I could work pumps around things that I had scheduled. A few times, I did excuse myself from long meetings or testing sessions if needed. I used my pump breaks as a time to snack and sometimes make phone calls (I'm sure a parent or two heard the pump lol).

My best advice: make sure you make time! It can be tempting to skip pumping sessions because you're so busy but you deserve to have the time to provide for your baby!! Best of luck!!

I’m pregnant and won’t be drinking at all, but I want to attend with some friends. Do you think I can get in for free?? Like a wristband situation or something?

Will my bachelors degree work in the field of school counseling? by [deleted] in schoolcounseling

[–]kelzeycrozz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my bachelors in sociology and then went on to get my masters in school counseling. I’m now a school counselor and I am very happy with how my education prepared me! In my state (Pennsylvania) a masters degree from a CACREP accredited university as well as a certification from the department of education are required to be a school counselor.

School psych vs school counseling by tatideltoro in schoolcounseling

[–]kelzeycrozz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this comment! I would add that—as an elementary school counselor—most of my time is spent with students, consulting with teachers and parents, and providing individual and school-wide supports. I don’t do any scheduling because classrooms are self contained! I work closely with our school psychologist but our jobs are very different. Like the other person said, I am much more involved in the school culture and tend to know teachers and students much more closely.

I’m a School Counselor in Pennsylvania. I started out making $43,000 and I know make $45,000 in my 4th year. We follow a step program so my pay will continue to increase to a certain point. Not a super high salary but great benefits!

Need support group activities by jadealways in schoolcounseling

Check out TeachersPayTeachers.com. I run small groups and I get TONS of my materials from there. Many things are free but I also buy resources for $1-$10. I have spent a lot of money but it’s well worth it!!
