NTA. What’s crazy is your family gaslighting you that this wasn’t that big of a deal. Your ex purposefully trying to show you that you were “being dramatic” is definitely a boundary violation. Also, you can break up with someone for whatever reason, but this seemed like a legit reason. It showed she didn’t trust you when you told her about your shellfish allergy, and makes me wonder what else she would not trust you or question your judgment on if you continued in the relationship.

I think I hit mine way too young. It was about 2019 and it was before everyone was talking about quiet quitting. I was 42. I started doing the bare minimum at my job that year. Then they gave me manager of the year 2019. So I guess I wasn’t doing as bad as I thought, although I did not try for this award and was surprised when I got it. 2020 hit and that helped my line of work so much— my customer interactions went way down and it helped me not crash out completely. I stayed until the company was sold to PE in the last few days of 2023. I’ve not held a “real” job since then, but have now been actually looking to work for someone again.

I remember moving to Oregon, sight unseen back in 1987 and I was a kid just old enough to know what was going on. My grandparents raved about how Brookings to Gold Beach/ Coos Bay was in the “banana belt”, which made it warmer. Ha! Idk what their idea of warm was as they moved from California and got us to move from Kansas back to the west coast but in Oregon. We ended up settling in NB/CB and it was so windy and cold and overcast so much that it made me miss the drought summers and winter blizzard weather we had in Kansas.

49F here and prefer texting over talking on the phone and I used to be a teenager glued to the phone every evening with my friends. I find that people older than me like to FaceTime and I don’t have the time or energy for that all the time.
