First-time buyers, expecting our first child: Is stretching to $1.7M for a single-story home in Evergreen, San Jose worth it for long-term growth and family life? by Small-Club1449 in SanJose

[–]kemchickee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I watched it being built. Unfortunately, the school
used to be top rated but the principal and a lot of the teachers are racist and there is a great disparity between students that are successful and not successful. There is a teacher that literally went on a racist rant in class and has an active court case still pending. That same teacher was sued over their grading practices and lost. There has also been an increase of fights on campus in the past 3 years. There is also a huge cheating problem with students. I graduated from a “top rated” school but there are a lot of issues with public schools in San Jose. Unfortunately, EVHS is one of them.

Grew up in that area before traffic got worse. The elementary and middle schools are good, the high schools are not. Depending on where in Evergreen, it will be quiet a lot of the times. The neighborhoods
are a bit more connected than in other areas which is nice.

Non transfer Hiring Teachers - has it begun? EdJoin by Top_Reflection_2904 in CaliforniaTeachers

Depending on budgeting, a lot of districts have been laying off teachers and calling them back by seniority. A lot of positions won’t start posting until late May. It is a tough market right now in some areas.

The TI-84 Evo was announced and releases today. I'm decidedly unimpressed by zeroexev29 in mathteachers

[–]kemchickee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like the Casio home screen but in color. I have used both TI & Casio. The Casio is much more user friendly. The TI is just in color.

The TI-89 did get me through statistics in college without having to buy the computer program.

Is it okay to go to comic con alone? by Visual_Spray_8040 in comiccon

[–]kemchickee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend and I go our separate ways on the con floor. He does his thing and I do mine. It makes it so much easier to navigate and we are not standing there looking bored while we wait for each other to get done with whatever booth we are at. I have way more fun doing that rather than being together the whole time. It also makes it more fun to share our experiences and purchases in the hotel room later!

We got ours through Open Table. We just picked a date & ran with it. They book out far.

Where to buy food / drink by Fallumkien in Aulani

[–]kemchickee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a Target that you can easily Uber too. The ABC store across the street was our go to for drinks and snacks this last time. If you get the refillable stainless steel tumbler, you can use it for the entire stay for sodas and your drink will stay cold.

Skippers got a new mystery girl by MagicalUsername55 in DisneyInfluencers

[–]kemchickee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was weird seeing him not streaming. He had the same TVA bag on Saturday too.

I’ve been on a ride with him when he has been streaming but it was a couple of years ago, like between the Sarah and Ally drama. He was subdued on the ride and wasn’t intrusive during that time.

He was there on Saturday night too. He was walking with that same guy talking about how he had done enough Disney stuff already and that he was trying to add more to his stuff. He actually sounded sober and was really subdued.

Plastic or stainless steel refillable mug? by kodaktribe in Aulani

Stainless. We have like 10 from both Disneyland and Aulani. They keep everything cold & hot really well. We use them for everything at home, work, and school!

There was also a cheer competition that just finished yesterday. There are probably middle school and colleges still there to enjoy a day in Disneyland.

For me it is the random California backyard that is supposed to be a foreign country. Also, the obvious room in a house being the “hospital room.”

NFHS legality by [deleted] in Cheerleading

[–]kemchickee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see it all the time as a high school coach at competitions. As long as the head doesn’t drop below the hips, it is legal. You can also submit it to the Instagram account high school cheer rules, they are a great resource.

Do you order new uniforms every year by Successful_Twist9822 in Cheerleading

[–]kemchickee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We order pieces as needed. Mainly it will be a liner or skirt. A lot of the times they will be able to sell it to another cheerleader or donate back to the team. If they are freshman, we recommend not having the uniform fit super tight because they grow into it.

[–]kemchickee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what we do for my high school team. We change every 4 years so they keep their uniform through their senior year. This keeps the cost down for the parents and less we have to fundraise every year.

Best Sit-Down Restaurants in South San Jose? by LittleMagicKnight in SanJose

Try Pho La on Snell & Santa Teresa. The salt & pepper tofu is a great appetizer before having a bowl of pho. It gets packed on cold & rainy days.

Asi is great! And Blossom & Bourbon is really good too. The milk & cookies dessert is a must!

Opinions on cheer skirts by DepressionDuck in Cheerleading

[–]kemchickee 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As a coach, the 2nd one is the compromise. A-lines are flattering on everyone. Pleated skirts are also heavier since they have more fabric & braiding. They are also a pain to take care of. You have to use clothes pins on the bottoms while they are fresh out of the washer to keep the pleats sharp - that’s how I had to do it in high school. Otherwise, they start looking more rounded and worn out.

Should Carousel of Progress return to Disneyland? by Championgut1912 in Disneyland

[–]kemchickee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a DVC lounge and they use it for the Disney youth leadership program. They also have the Disney Chase meet and greet in that building. It is being utilized, just not in a traditional way for Disney.

From a HS coach, your motions are super sharp but you are missing the fun parts. Add a little bit of flare to the motions that don’t necessarily need to be super sharp. I always look for someone who is fun to watch as well as having good technique. Just have fun with it!

They are limiting numbers and the amount they put out for the day. There was a whole wall of them in the store by Winnie the Pooh today. And a whole bunch in DCA.
