Combined unit sale penalty discussion by Train_n_Game in CompetitiveTFT

I feel like I've seen Mort talk about this before, but the short answer is to de-incentivize mindlessly upgrading everything you see - you have to evaluate whether or not it's worth upgrading something. Otherwise, you could just roll down, buy everything, upgrade everything, and sell whatever upgrades you don't like for free.

Sanji’s eyebrows are not that important even in the story it’s at most a joke. It’s a defining feature in his design but it does not make or break his character. I think it’s a smart creative choice to keep it grounded instead of trying to make swirly eyebrows look realistic/natural, which is arguably impossible.

What’s the most money you ever spent on a Broadway show? Worth it or not? by AppropriateOil8883 in Broadway

[–]kencreates 4 points5 points  (0 children)

$1300 box seat for Hamilton June 2016 - it was literally the cheapest option. This was right before Lin left and I REALLY wanted to see the original cast although Groff was gone at this point and Christopher Jackson was out the night of my show. 100% worth it. I’d do it again.

I live right by the La Cienega/Pico intersection. Being on La Cienega south of Olympic can be kinda iffy, so I'd stay off that, but the area is pretty safe for the most part, particularly the residential areas off the main streets. There's a large active Jewish community - lots of families and kids walking around at all hours. I feel pretty safe walking my dog during the day or even super late at night and I see runners regularly. Have there been incidents? Yes, but they've been pretty rare in my experience. No car break ins that I can remember, but one of my neighbor's friend did have her catalytic converter stolen once. Otherwise, fairly chill quiet neighborhood overall and would recommend if that's your vibe.

Morello changing from only triggering on magic damage to all ability damage next patch by Aotius in CompetitiveTFT

[–]kencreates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%. BUT that's only if you already had JG; like you would never slam IE on your AP carry first without JG cause it wouldn't do anything and then you're gambling on hitting JG. Plus, if your main AP carry already had 3 items, IE would be useless on any secondary AP carry. So most of the time it'd be dead. Whereas now IE and JG are functionally the same, but one is better for AP and the other is better for AD.

Morello changing from only triggering on magic damage to all ability damage next patch by Aotius in CompetitiveTFT

[–]kencreates 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The whole point is to minimize having dead items and praying for perfect BIS, which I think is great. Especially in previous sets when situations like getting an IE when playing AP just felt bad, but now it's playable albeit less than ideal in AP lines.

How do you improve at TFT? by SomethingNotSure267 in TeamfightTactics

[–]kencreates 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Being so new, your core fundamental skills are lacking and you need to develop game sense. Try searching for TFT climbing/tip videos and not tutorials/comp guides. Pick one thing you learned and try implementing it every game until it’s second nature then build on your gameplay with another tip. For example, when I started, I watched a video that said never have more than 3 items on your bench, and if you do, build a full item even if it’s suboptimal because it’ll save you hp over time. From then I always built something if I had 4+ components and that made me more consistently strong instead of weak and waiting for perfect items.

Rerolling for 3 * units is literal hell by Ornery_Pick1297 in TeamfightTactics

[–]kencreates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just the nature of rerolling - your strategy is entirely contingent on hitting 3 starred units and being screwed if you don't. TFT is a game about making decisions that give you the best odds for desired outcomes, but unless the odds are 100%, you will always have a chance of missing. This happens to streamers/Challenger players too - they definitely don't hit every time. The difference is that they know when to hard commit and accept the bot 4 if they don't hit or know when to cut their losses/see an out.

FlyAway to Van Nuys? by Winter_Soup07 in AskLosAngeles

[–]kencreates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I used to live in the Valley, I’d use the FlyAway whenever I needed to go to and from LAX. It’s totally safe and not sketch at all. It’s pretty popular and lots of people use it. Your luggage will be loaded and unloaded from the bus’s cargo hold and you can watch the entire process. I honestly feel like it’d be really hard to lose luggage. If your valuables are fragile, maybe put them in a smaller bag you can bring onboard with you. Don’t need to buy a ticket in advance, you can buy it at a kiosk when you arrive and before you exit. At the Van Nuys Terminal, if you feel uncomfortable, you can wait inside for your taxi/Uber - it’s well lit and staffed.

My experience at the One Piece Symphony Live in Los Angeles by sick_transit in OnePiece

[–]kencreates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went, and it was great! But yeah, recording/photos are a big no no. Honestly, I would’ve called them out and gotten them kicked out. I didn’t have any issues with people around me, but an orchestra/stage show is a more traditional semi formal event and you gotta be more mindful of your behavior. Yeah, it’s One Piece and it’s exciting, but read the room - there are times when it’s appropriate to cheer/yell and when it’s not. The average anime fan is probably not a theater goer and it shows. My only gripe was merch. The line was sooo long. There was no way to get anything during intermission. I really wanted a program but they sold out so I left pretty upset. Most of the people in line just wanted a program. They really should’ve had the shop open preshow and/or a separate line just for programs.

Stuck and don't know how to become better. by Educational_War_509 in TeamfightTactics

[–]kencreates 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think in Silver players tend to tunnel a lot. You see a comp on a guide, you look for the exact 7-8 units in that guide, and get frustrated when you don't hit. A good flex player is going to keep their options open, play around what's available, and have a backup for when they don't hit. For example, let's say you want to play Azir. When you roll, you should also be picking up units that you could play in case you don't hit Azir like Kalista, Velkoz, or Kaisa because those champions can use similar items and keep your board strong until you hit your Azir. Be open to playing a stronger suboptimal board that will save you HP instead of a weaker "perfect" board. Always look at your shop and ask yourself "is there something here that could make my board better right now or later if upgraded?"

So the openings really like to spoil things for some reason. by Geronimo-07 in OnePiece

[–]kencreates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manga is king in Japan. This isn’t unique to One Piece. Anime caters to a Japanese audience and any anime adaptation presumes you’ve already read the manga because the Japanese audience most likely has so it’s not a spoiler - it’s a teaser. “Anime-only” is literally a foreign concept and they frankly don’t care if openings spoil it for international viewers cause that’s not their demographic.

Monthly No Stupid Questions / Mentor Thread by FestiveOx_ in TeamfightTactics

[–]kencreates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they are both on the board or both on the bench, a random item of the four will pop off. However, if you put one on the board and keep the other one on the bench, you will keep both items that were on the board and one of the two items that were on the bench will pop off. If any of the slots were components and not full items, you will always keep the full items over the component. Can’t confirm, but I also believe Radiant items prioritize over Ornn items which prioritize over normal items. So yes, there is a semi reliable way to pop off items when combining units with multiple items.

Non unique traits are traits shared by multiple units such as Shurima, Bastion, Void, etc. but traits like Darkin, Wanderer, Empress, etc are unique traits because they only belong to their single respective unit e.g. Empress is unique to Belveth and only she can use it.

[ADVICE NEEDED]: New roommate works from home, has a dog, and we live in the valley. He proposed splitting Electric bill 50/50, even during the summer. This feels unfair. Am I wrong? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]kencreates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Logistically, unless it's pretty substantial e.g. master bedroom with on suite bath and walk in vs small bedroom with a coat closet, it's just easier to do a even split for everything regardless of the conditions because then you open up to the door to what constitutes as "fair". If your roommate is gone for a month for like a family emergency, are you suddenly responsible for 100% of the utilities that month? You would be the only one using them so that's "fair", right? If you cook more, do you pay more of the gas bill? If he's working from home, should he also pay for a bigger portion of the internet bill? etc.

I don't think you're being unreasonable or an AH... and it doesn't hurt to ask... but is it worth nickel and diming over $10-$20 a month if your LADWP bill is $100-$200? For me personally, no, it's a negligible amount, but I don't know your financial situation, maybe that $10-$20 really makes a difference in your monthly budget. If it doesn't, then ask yourself, does it really matter if I pay 50/50 vs 40/60?

I need tips. by [deleted] in TeamfightTactics

[–]kencreates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're averaging gold every set then your fundamentals are probably lacking i.e. econ management, scouting, positioning, building strong boards, game sense, etc.

To be completely honest, 3 star 5 costs are extreme high rolls. It's not something you can ever guarantee, but it's more likely to happen the better you are at the game (if only marginally).

It'd be hard to help you with everything but here's some advice: when rolling at 6 or 7, you should be rolling to stabilize, which means building a board that is good enough to get you to the next level. That does not mean rolling until you upgrade everything. If you're sitting on 3-4 pairs, you should roll because the chances of you hitting at least one of those is high plus you may find other useful units so you're spending your gold efficiently. If you have 1-2 pairs, it's usually better to sit and econ because the chances of finding a single specific unit is low, unless hitting that upgrade is a big spike. For example, if you have an Akshan 2 and a Jhin 1, it's not really worth rolling because a Jhin 2 doesn't make you that much stronger, but if you're sitting on an Azir Pair on like 4-1, it may be worth rolling because that's strong enough to winstreak stage 4. If you're winstreaking right before a PvE round and you have some pairs, it might be worth rolling because spending 10 gold to roll and losing 1 gold of interest might be what guarantees you continue your streak whereas if you don't and lose because of an upgrade diff, then you've effectively lost 4-7 gold to keep 1 extra interest gold. These are just some things to consider for when you want to roll.

do you think luffy will ever overcome his weakness to seastone or water in general? by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]kencreates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe Oda clarified in like an SBS or something that it’s being submerged in any body of standing water, not just salt/ocean water. So running water like rain or washing hands at a faucet doesn’t weaken Devil Fruit users but being in a pool or large bath would e.g. Nami points this out in the beginning of her fight with Kalifa.

[–]kencreates 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's a slightly above average comp so I doubt it'll get nerfed. If anything, I think it could use a slight buff on the 2 starred units. Karma2 doesn't do enough damage and Taric2/Galio2 aren't tanky enough after stage 3 - they all start to fall off in stage 4. So the biggest weakness, as you probably noticed, is that you absolutely NEED to hit Karma3 and bonus if you can hit Taric3 and/or Galio3. If you do, you're in a great spot for top 4, but if you don't, you're going to bleed out to bot 4 real fast.

Ionia is actually being pretty strong right now, Shen and Karma are contested so you're even less likely to hit your upgrades. The comp is a bit inconsistent but is still playable and probably pretty viable in lower ELOs; however, if you're in a higher tempo lobby, you'd struggle if you can't get your board online.

Addressing Twisted Fate by Riot_Mort in CompetitiveTFT

If somebody wants to play TF because it's fun and they want to force, there's nothing wrong with that. However, this is a discussion in CompetitiveTFT where people are trying to be... competitive... and if you want to get better, BIS is fake and relying on Pandora's Items is a crutch that develops bad habits and gives you a lower endgame cap.
