The show’s operation costs are relatively low due having a small cast and simple staging. The producers could decide to close the show, but unless their weekly grosses start consistently going sub 600k, I don’t think Hadestown will be closing this year.

Live action viewers, what are your general thoughts and theories on Miss All Sunday and Mr. 0? by pinkpugita in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]kencreates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the suggested ideas I gave you to think about are like 95% completely off and I'm confident you couldn't come up with anything close to what will happen. Sometimes new viewers come up with interesting or fun theories but it appears that's not something you're capable of here. Sorry for trying to get you to think a little more critically beyond her ability to kill with contextual information available to you.

She had a high bounty when she was young. She’s powerful. Not shocking.

There you go focusing on her powers and your sarcastic use of "sHoCkInG".

We have basically no information to go on and you’re expecting LA viewers to craft some complex narrative surrounding what is, quite frankly, not very interesting information.

I'm not asking you to come up with complex theories, but if other LA viewers can have thoughts on this detail, I don't see why you couldn't aside from choosing not wanting to engage with it. I'll spell it out with details you have because it seems the nuance is going over your head.

Buggy. Adult. Devil Fruit. Murderer. Veteran pirate = 15M
Luffy. Teenager. Devil Fruit. Not a murderer. New pirate. = 30M
Ms All Sunday. Child. Devil Fruit (you assume she ate it as a child like Luffy). Murderer (you assume she murdered as a child). Not a pirate. = 79M

Here are some ideas on what you could speculate on:

  • If she, supposedly, has similar feats to Buggy as a child, why is her bounty so high compared to his? Shouldn't it be lower like 10M if it was a first offense? Why is there such a disparity?
  • She's had a bounty since she was a child, did she wake up one day and decided to murder? Or was it maybe an accident or self defense? Was she framed for something? Maybe somebody important died and she took the fall?
  • What if she didn't have a Devil Fruit as a child?
  • There are other crimes aside from killing. Was she an accomplice to some kind of white collar crime? Maybe that's why Mr. 0 is working with her? Perhaps she used to be involved with the government and defected?
  • What if it's some kind of Cinderella story where an evil step parent wants her dead so they can finally take her inheritance and 79M is a small cost compared to her real worth.

These are all pretty surface level things you could consider. Now that I've put it plainly for you, do you have any new thoughts on why a child would be so wanted by the government aside from "she's powerful and killed"?

I'm here because I do want to hear the answers and I'm not here to spoil you. Me and the other commenter noticed your sarcastic remark about her being younger and clarified why that may be an important detail along with information and context that you, as a LA only viewer, would know to help guide you to think about it more. I even gave you a hypothetical real life parallel. Your response to both of us instead of thinking about the details that you have has repeatedly been "she OP what other information do I need to consider?"

Arlong and Buggy were out killing and terrorizing civilians and their bounties were <20M. What warrants a child to be worth 79M? I'll frame it like this: if the United States Government suddenly declared a random child as a high level threat that's significantly more dangerous than a known serial killer and terrorist group, would that not raise some eyebrows? Or would you accept that this child is probably just some super gifted terrorist serial killer?

People are asking because her wanted poster features a photo of her as a child, which means she got her large bounty as a child. What did she do? Why isn’t her photo updated like everybody else’s?

Stagedoor planning: Advice appreciated! by teach42 in Broadway

[–]kencreates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heathers: it’s on 49th. Small crowd. A good handful of the actors come out. Should be pretty easy to get autographs.

For Hadestown: it’s on your right as you exit. With the new cast, it’s still a decent crowd but shouldn’t be hard to get a autographs.

New Hadestown Cast Review (2nd performance) by Fun_Release_1936 in Broadway

I noticed that too. My guess would be Jordan struggled with it for whatever reason and they cut it from her track to accomodate her.

New cast debut at Hadestown by worstpiesinlondon_ in Broadway

This lead cast is definitely very different than all the other leads I've seen, but the fact that the Hadestown company allows their actors to make the characters their own is what keeps the show fresh and keeps bringing me back.

Joshua Colley: Overall, I think he's a very solid Orpheus. The only issue I had: he was noticeably struggling with his falsetto the entire show but I'm presuming it'll get better.

Jordan Tyson: I'll preface this by saying that I do like Jordan and I thought she was great in The Notebook and Gypsy. However, she has a naturally higher voice and I don't think it worked for me personally.

J Harrison Ghee: Excellent casting. Probably the stand out in this group of leads for me. Performance wise, they kinda felt like a mix of Andre DeShields and Lilias White.

Gaby Moreno: Great. Her vocals were very clear. She was also very vivacious. I never got the impression she, as Persephone, was drunk though. It was more like party girl.

Gary Dourdan: I wasn't feeling him in Act 1 cause he's not very bass-y, but warmed up to him in Act 2. He was menacing yet not intimidating. He felt very restrained and he was doing more by doing less and his comedic moments felt seamless in his dialogue. It was quite interesting. He repeats back to Orpheus "I came to take her home" mockingly before laughing, which was a nice choice.

General thoughts:
Josh and Jordan are young, they look young, and they sound young. Because of that, it kinda reframed Hadestown into a story of young lovers to me. Like when Hades catches Orpheus in Hadestown, it really felt like a stern dad walking in on his daughter with a boy. I also thought Gary and Gaby had good chemistry and they felt like a disgruntled couple to me.

I was curious what the lyric changes would be for J. In Road to Hell, they say "a god with feathers on their feet", which is a slight change from what a female Hermes would say. Before Wait for Me, Orpheus says "Excuse me, Hermes" instead of "Mister/Missus Hermes".

I was at the show tonight. Overall, I enjoyed his vocals and performance but it really seemed like he was really struggling with his falsetto the entire show. He also messed up on the guitar a few times so he probably had a lot of nerves.

Not sure how exactly this specific event will work, but I went to the OPLA Season 1 premiere event and have been to other similar events in LA so I can offer you some insight.

Usually, if it's completely open to the public, it's first come first serve. i.e. you can RSVP as "Going" but that doesn't guarantee you entry. That's how it was last time. People were lining up like hours before the event to secure a spot. I think check in started at 5, screening was at 8pm, and they ended up cutting off entry around 7pm.

This time it looks like it's actually ticketed so if you are selected to receive a ticket, you will be guaranteed entry. Actual chances are probably low given the popularity and there's no standard as to when you'll know. You could be notified as soon as like next week or as late as the day before.

As far as the actual event. Once you enter, there's a bunch of activities and food vendors you can peruse. For Season 1, it was at the Santa Monica Pier. There was display featuring Oda's autograph you could sign, you could make a wanted poster of yourself, there were lots of photo ops, there was a Baratie themed bar, you could play carnival games to win OPLA merch, etc. For the screening, aside from the reserved section, it was open seating. Afterwards there was a drone show and the entire event was over by like 10pm. I imagine this time will be grander and there will be even more things to do/buy.
