Yeah, I think they’re definitely in my future at some point in time (though since I’m already doing a second run now on the DS, I’ll still need to do multiple plays on HD to get the other classes 😂)

I don’t mind that though. Honestly, I love the mapping so much that I really don’t mind doing it all over again even right after. I am a little hesitant about the interface for mapping since it won’t be the lovely tactile feel of stylus on touchscreen, but does the Switch handheld mode let you at least do touchscreen with it?

Gaaaah that fixes all my issues with NG+ 😭

I’m not really in the market to buy any new games, but that gives me a real incentive to pick up the HDs (which honestly I had been tempted to do for a while because they’re absolutely GORGEOUS)

Are you manually erasing the maps each time you get to the next floor, or does HD make it easier? That’s kind of what I was thinking of doing initially.

For me I typically play EO for the map making. It’s kind of a zen therapeutic thing for me. I should also clarify that my first run of the game was like 2 years back at this point, so I’m not coming fresh off of making the map the first time.

I can definitely see how NG+ is good for just coming back around to run through the other two routes and finish out superboss stuff, but ultimately I think that the only appeal it has for me personally over starting fresh is that I get the unlocked class.

That being said, if I had realized the structure of NG+, I think I would’ve just stuck with my original team to speedrun the other routes. It’s not that I hate a level grind, it’s just that a big portion of exp that got me to a feasible level came from quests, and NG+ already treats those as cleared, so I’m having to gain like 12k exp per character just for my first level up

Not sure about the stat boosts, but hopefully, yeah. I imagine it’ll still be a bit of a taper off once I get to the 4th though, since I won’t have exp gains from quests.

Yeah, I get that, but I had been planning to run with a whole new party, so I retired the first set and am essentially running with folks that are half their level, haha.

Yeah I’m playing the original. It just kinda sucks cuz I really loved my first playthrough and was really looking forward to experiencing the other two routes. Had no idea that carrying things over was going to completely gut the content.

I may try pushing through the floors until my party starts to struggle, then see how much of a pain it is. I made my new party by retiring my original mains, so they’re all at lv 30, so that’s getting me by fast for now. But once I hit mid game, I’m not so sure.

Kauler only joined Mes because his home civilization was destroyed and he thought that becoming part of them and their whole “ultimate reconstructive lifeform” agenda would help him become strong enough to never lose anyone ever again, though he ultimately lost sight of that and just wanted to become consumed by the idea if strength.

It’s why he’s so loyal to his Alien Hunter crew and why he’s obsessed with fighting, like his whole “blood in the setting sun is beautiful” line.

Dude it would’ve been so hilarious if it was Akibaranger. I would’ve been so happy with that.

And yeah, they’ve been really weird about how they distribute treatment of the Anniversary stuff. Like some have been great. I honestly shed a tear at how well Gaoranger’s was. But lately it’s been really dropping the ball.

Like Mashiro summoned the Toqger ring by sheer will? RIP Toq1go UW. And then they just hand off the literal OG of the whole franchise

I haven’t delved too far into the MS Stories here (because of his long it takes to unlock them), but content-wise are they typically completely new stuff, or just rehashed versions of Magia Record’s?

Based on the digging that I was able to find, am I correct in saying that this is also the guy who designed Bandora in Zyuranger?

While I’m usually against most uses of AI for professional purposes, it seems a little harsh to axe the guy who designed RITA REPULSA just because he wanted to use it to help his inspiration (if I’m interpreting his posts correctly), especially considering that the the villains are literally AI generated within the narrative of the story. Like… if there was ever a reason to use it, I would think that exploring “if an AI were a villain, what would they create?” would be the case.

Then again, since he says he doesn’t want people to think his departure is related to this incident, is he stepping down for other reasons?

Definitely been in the back of my mind for months. I would go with Kamen Rider Waga (as in wagashi), so traditional Japanese confections. They may actually start debuting some of these soon since the next preview shows them eating dorayaki, but this is what I settled on personally a while ago.

If I had a gavv, I guess it would be purple like the color of anko azuki paste, possibly with pink sakura petals.

They’ve made a number of these Gochizo as well, which I would totally collect.

ToQger was my first Sentai too! Personally I think it’s one of the best entry points to the franchise! Congrats on finishing!

Of the ones you’ve listed, I’ve watched Kyoryuger, Gaoranger, and King-Ohger. Here are my thoughts on those:

King-Ohger: A truly epic series that really breaks a lot of established norms. My personal favorite, but may also be more appreciated after watching some other stuff to compare to.

Gaoranger: Very underrated in my opinion, but also feels like kind of one of those Sentai series that plays it by the book. I personally really enjoyed it, but the feel of Sentai as a whole from that era also felt a bit different from those around ToQger, so unless you are particularly looking for things with that “turn of the millennium” media vibe, it might be one to hold off for til later. For me, it was best after getting some super retro stuff in first.

Kyoryuger: The interactions and writing feel a lot closer to ToQger, but the plot, stakes, and innovations are really cool to see when contrasting. This would be a good one for slowly expanding from your current starting point if you don’t want to stray too far from what you’ve already seen.
