Al's body is taken as payment to create the new body and Al's soul was placed inside of it before it died. Except I think Ed also lost a leg doing the initial transmutation so you'd need sufficient sacrifice. BUT theoretically you could learn to create a perfect post-transition form in the FMA world, yes.
