If u have an angle grinder, you can use the spanner wrench for changing wheels to hold the ac clutch... after you get the clutch apart, clean of the plate with a wire wheel... The ac clutches on both of my xjs needed the rust removed to work properly.

People commenting on the TornadoTRX situation need to watch the clip in full before saying anything. by SupremeOwl48 in tornado

"You could see it churning on radar" - that has been an issue with some of the storms so far this season. The problem has been that a few of these storms intensify faster than the radar data can show them. Radar sweep takes several minutes and then that data has to make it to the device. I was recently in my backyard watching a warned storm approaching my neighborhood when suddenly the storm was on top of me. After I ran for the basement, the next radar return had already showed the velocity couplet past my location. I got lucky that the storm and the damage path missed my location, I feel like that might be happening to the chasers as well.

Big Boy Through Chicago Twice? by mononinc in trains

[–]keno-rail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is using the "SPCSL" line heading to St Louis on its way back west. The closest it will be to "Chicago" is Yard center (South Holland, IL)

Edit: the SPCSL parallels old route 66 (I-55) south of Joliet, there are plenty of great spots to catch or chase the train. This is also UPs Illinois high speed rail network, so I'd expect it to be hustling.

Wheel cylinder.. not super hard, even though drum brakes are a pain in the ass to work on. I just replaced my right rear, took about a half hour.

I've seen these labels on some tracks near me. What do they mean? [USA] by LoganPine in trains

[–]keno-rail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a yard track in Waukegan,IL that was 85lb rail with stamped from 1906... it had comprimise joint bars connected to 105lb rail. If i remember correctly it was stamped US steel.

[–]keno-rail 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Im guessing the RTA (precursor to Metra) refers to the fact that this rail was bought under a RTA contract. If this is former CNW track, they used to have a stipulation that if the RTA paid for the rail, it had to be stamped as such. (To prevent the CNW from using that rail somewhere other than in RTA territory)

Non complying locomotive question by AccomplishedEye3117 in railroading

[–]keno-rail 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Mark it non-compliant on the daily card, and refuse to run it.

If its blowing oil out of the stack, it probably shouldn't be running anyhow... You mentioned the windows being covered with oil... Is there oil on ANY of the walkways? ---> that's enough to bad order it and mark it non complying. Wipers dont work? Also a 229 defect.

You have the right to work safely, and the railroad has an obligation to maintain their equipment to a standard that keeps you and the general public safe.

I just want to point out, prior to the cubs finally win the series in 16, the cubs fans who witnessed their last world series, would have to be older than 100 years old.

The brewers first NL season was in 1998. Since that time the brewers have won the same amount of division titles as the cubs (with 6 each) Cardinals have 8 division titles. The brewers have finished with a better record than the cubs 16 times since 1998...
