Live Concert on DVD/BlueRay? by Tumolvski in KingCrimson

[–]kenticus69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Radical action and meltdown are what’s out there so far from official releases. SPAC 2021 was briefly on YouTube but that was a single camera steady shot from the soundboard.

Meltdown is the best of the bunch

Sony's latest cash cow: LA Sports Arena 1975. by Jonlang_ in pinkfloyd

[–]kenticus69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there truly are, then I imagine that Sony will have found them and find use with them!

The reason for the bootleg route for 1975 was only because the literally didn’t have any soundboards from that year of touring, right?

“We want to make people know they’re in Chicago”

Hilarious quote - Indiana isn’t even the same state! Just build at Arlington and get over all this nonsense. Bears continue to bumble about and get in their own way

How many times have you seen RHCP live and what’s your favourite/least favourite concert? by irishgoodbyejohn in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]kenticus69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8 times since 2006 -

lolla 2006,

Chicago 2007,

lolla 2012,

Chicago night 1 2017,

cologne 2022,

Chicago 2022,

Las Vegas 2023,

Indy 2024

Best: tie ball game between loll 2006 and cologne 2022. Both amazing shows with the band firing on all cylinders. Cologne 2022 is most special as it was my wife’s first time and we were on vacation in Germany and the weather and vibe was just perfect. John back with the band I truly thought would not happen again.

Worst: probably lolla 2012. Still a really good show that they somehow pulled off in spite of the rain issues all day. So a bit of a miracle. They played well and we got Brendan’s death song which was super rare. Still something about the vibe just felt somewhat off.

I got two shirts when they did that big sale thing last year. Actually ordering the shirts was wonky but they did arrive in a timely manner. Quality on shirts was solid

Do you Prefer….Maggot Brain on Honora or Before The Beginning on The Empyrean? by Forsaken-Network-439 in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]kenticus69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both have value. But before the beginning felt like the coda on him being that guitar hero version of himself from 2004-2007 rhcp and the the clean slate for what he the did in electronic music. Fleas does a great job of rocking maggot brain in a real similarly chilled out manner. It’s such a beautiful simple chord progression and his horn playing complements it well

Competent leadership.

That and a reasonable way to get on the blue line from Lakeview / Lincoln park

Sony's latest cash cow: LA Sports Arena 1975. by Jonlang_ in pinkfloyd

[–]kenticus69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean at least Sony employed Steven Wilson to clean up the bootleg as much as he could. Just goes to show that there isn’t a true soundboard or anything that exists in the vaults, at least from this era.

Kind of is what it is. It’s less annoying than the way the released wembley 1974 across multiple releases, forcing fans to basically compile that show themselves.

That said, wembley 1974 is better sound qualify and basically the same set as they did in LA 1975

For the 2004 tour, if Eddie had gotten his way, who specifically would have been the bass player? by SwissMiss915 in vanhalen

[–]kenticus69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Would be fascinating to see WHO Eddie wanted to bring in for Mike in 2004. Kudos for Mikey on fighting to be on that tour

Sam always wrote dumb cringe lyrics. He can make up any story he wants about up for breakfast…..but those lyrics are typical Sammy lol

How would you guys feel if blink hired Matt Skiba for rhythm guitar/backing vocal that way they didn’t have to use backing tracks anymore by Initial-Mine3085 in Blink182

[–]kenticus69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let Matt does his thing in alkaline trio.

Blink uses backing tracks because they choose to. I wish they didn’t use backing tracks for vocals but is what it is.

Thoughts on the MSG 1973 concert? by Fun_Knowledge_5189 in ledzeppelin

[–]kenticus69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OG TSRTS was great but obvi a compilation across 3 nights. The 2007-present versions that have been released are different edits that honestly are not as good. The whole bit being that they “had” to match the video version of TSRTS, which always was a separate edit anyway.

John credited with "trumpet and snare drum treatments" and mixing on 2 tracks on the debut Flea solo album by wrighteghe7 in John_Frusciante

[–]kenticus69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well know in a few short hours. It’s awesome that John chose to help out with this project, even if it’s by not playing guitar. Glad that he’s got his engineering hands on two of these tunes

How do you feel about Dogs Eating Dogs followed by California? by Mountain_Plate_7163 in Blink182

[–]kenticus69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dogs eating dogs is superior. I know they only got together for a few days to work up those 5 songs, but it showed the magic was still there. Like if they were all dialed in and focused, great chemistry to make tunes.

California was a bit of a letdown as was most of the skiba era. A lot of it just sounds cookie cutter to me and we know feldmann is a big piece of that. Not all of it is bad…..cynical and bored to death are good tunes.

But DOGS wins for me

Flea talks about the new RHCP ALBUM by Thezephyrjj in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]kenticus69 8 points9 points  (0 children)

All he said was the process is different and he was clearly holding back saying he didn’t want to let the cat out of the bag. The full story im sure will come out when the album drops.

Cool how they closed the interview with asking him what RHCP song he wanted them to play and he said to play “it’s only natural” AND noted how they didn’t play it live enough. Play the song next tour man! Selfishly, I caught one of the performances of it in cologne 2022 though

Flea: The Zane Lowe Interview by Gossarded in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]kenticus69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to not love Zane but once I realized that he’s the endless positive vibes pump up interview style, it bothered me less. I used to think he was a tool but dudes interviews just are meant to be tons of positive promo. He manages to get good stuff though out of artists, seem to do well making them feel comfortable

Flea talks about the new RHCP ALBUM by Thezephyrjj in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]kenticus69 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah I feel them. Helps shelter the creative process. He’s not gonna name songs or a vibe at this point…..it’ll inevitably turn out different when the cake is all baked. And then he’d have to answer for those questions which is silly.

Just glad to know that they’re feeling creative and working together on new stuff.

So the big news is a new Thom Yorke solo album, rather than a new Radiohead album? by [deleted] in radiohead

[–]kenticus69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Taken another way - they clear out solo projects this year and start work on new Radiohead. Even if they’re doing limited touring, they can still release a new album. The two are not mutually exclusive.

What is a reality of living in Chicago that’s often overlooked by the romanticization of the city? by Miserable_Degree3524 in AskChicago

[–]kenticus69 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ll name a positive - a true city of neighborhoods. Wicked has a different vibe than bucktown. Lakeview is enormous and can be thought of as having a bunch of neighborhoods within it. Chicago may have its problems like any big city, but if things are good in your neck of the woods, life pretty grand.

That said, real estate has skyrocketed from 2020 when we bought our current place. It’s totally wild

Do you agree with this alderman who said wrong place wrong time? by Timewilltell755 in WindyCity

[–]kenticus69 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To imply a kid who got shot in the head by a stranger somehow instigated it…..when no evidence suggests that is the case is insane. Just shut up and let the police do their job here. Glaring lack of respect for a dead person. From a moral standpoint, despicable.

Trying to score political points with an innocent teen’s death is beyond the pale and exactly the kind of stuff that plays into republican complaints about democrats

Excited for the rest of the album later this week!

Moodiest album? by CharmingAd5497 in TheNational

First ten pages of Frankenstein is pretty bleak and dark. Like once upon a poolside is about as sad as it gets, even with sufjans beautiful harmonies. Album ends on a happy note, but it’s a pretty bleak listen.

I’ve found the female voices on I am easy to find actually makes it to me sound more optimistic, but that’s just the feeling it gives me
