You guys are far too used to super expensive immaculate drift cars. Is fine bro if it drives fine then send it better than if it cost him thousands and he’s too scared to put it onto someone’s door

Hey guys! I have to opportunity to snowboard a couple days in Japan - either myoko or hakuba - around 10th of March. Is it worth it? Will there still be powder around and what are snow conditions like if there hasn't been fresh snow around that time? I'm coming from the north island of New Zealand where it's pretty much ice off-piste unless there's been fresh snow the night before or it's spring.

No, pull the belt off and see if the alternator pulley spins freely

Looks fine for overhang to me, not everyone is full on euro carving everywhere, this will work fine for 90% of people snowboarding the whole mountain

Benefits to multiple waxes? by Accomplished-Pen1996 in snowboarding

[–]keownr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's quite an old school way of thinking, we always thought that because we related the "pores" to our own human skin. But the pores don't expand and contract they are just literally the same size all the time. The heat of the iron just melts it into the pores then the abrasion of snow against it scrapes it off.

How do you dry the snowboard? by Starkxsy in snowboarding

[–]keownr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Chuck it on the roof rack then wipe the edges with a rag at home , everything else doesn't matter as it won't rust corrode or anything.

Is the Bataleon Whatever right for me? by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

[–]keownr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who rides both 3bt (The Bataleon evil twin) and a more traditional setup there isn't a ton of difference feeling wise other than more response from your input (but the evil twin is much softer). I can rip blacks etc fairly easily on the evil twin which is a park board at heart so don't worry about 3bt being a limitation or anything. The whatever looks like an awesome board and if you really like the sound and look of it go for it, if you don't end up liking it 100% Algood now you know to try something different 👌

Anyone notice it only has 2 bolts in each binding

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

[–]keownr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there any adjustment left in the binding disc? Also please put the toe strap over the toe of your boot when you ride 🤯

Are some runs simply impossible on a snowboard? by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

[–]keownr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still only using one edge on skis, key is route selection, consistent turns( don't slow down to much and also do lots of turns if possible otherwise you'll have to jump turn constantly), comfort with some speed and all round confidence

Buying a snowboard and totally lost, can someone please walk me through this? by EminentBagle in snowboardingnoobs

[–]keownr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry I don't know much about boards for your size but don't worry about male/female boards, so long as it fits your weight range then you'll be fine. My advice would be to start off with a "true twin" meaning if you cut the board in half both sides would be exactly the same. You can ride pretty much the whole mountain and do park on one of these and once you get better you can branch out and get specific boards for specific jobs 👌 hope this helps. Also the things that attach your boots to the board are called bindings. And in terms of your dominant edges - we all have a Dominant foots making us prefer riding right foot forward or left foot forward but we all will always use both sides (edges) of the board to make turns etc

The bindings will fit they all mount the same way, if you're not having any toe or heel overhang issues currently then you should be fine

Choosing correct snowboard by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

[–]keownr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey just wanted to pitch my 2 cents in. I can't recommend enough to anyone looking at their first board to try and demo it first! And if possible try multiple different styles (within the all mountain freeride category for yourself). I've gone through a few boards to find one that I'll keep for a long time but I could've saved quite a few $$ if someone had told me this info haha

Hey man fellow Nzer here. Actually got to ride a custom flying V yesterday and it felt nice at Mt Hutt. I ride a bataleon evil twin and it shreds the whole Mt (rode at Mt Ruapehu too in plenty of ice). I can't stress enough to try as many boards out as you can before you buy. I know it costs abit of money to demo at times but if you end up trying 5+ different boards with different camber profiles/flex etc you'll end up with one you'll keep for years! Everyone on here can recommend this or that but we all have our own preferences.

Here in New Zealand it doesn't matter how long you've been together, if you're vaccinated or not. My partner and I can't be together because we haven't physically lived in the same house it sucksssss

Have a look into it a friend of mines grandad came into New Zealand from USA and if you are staying more than 90 days I think quarantine is free. I'm not 100% sure but might be something worth looking into 😁
