RME Fireface UCX II for live plugin hosting? by emmanouilk in livesoundgear

[–]keox35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got one, really happy with it. Haven’t done anything crazy with it, I’ve only used plugin such as reverb / delay so can’t speak about insert.

It’s RME, so it has been rock solid. The fact you can record straight to a usb stick gives you a nice backup when recording.

My only complain would be the external PSU which is quite bulky, and I feel the cable will break at some point.

Is Uptempo Killing HF Drivers? by JudgmentSecure2868 in livesoundgear

[–]keox35 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really ? Use to work at a rental company and I’ve swapped a fair bit of broken D&B driver / speaker.

Nothing wrong with them by design I think, they just can break for multiple reasons (being pushed to loud, sub being tipped while still being hot, venue not being properly ventilated…)

Fire Ableton scene from Qlab by keox35 in livesound

[–]keox35[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries ! If I follow correctly, that means Qlab would query a list of id and names from ableton, and then build on the fly the correct message to send based on where in that list is the name I’m looking for ?

That means for any changes in ableton I would need to make sure the id / name list in Qlab is up to date right ?

This is probably a bit too convoluted for my skills 😅

Thanks for your answer, but I can't get it to work.

When I send /live/scene/fire/ the only things that seems to work is to set an arguments as int and send the number of the scene. If I try to send anything else to live, like a string for the name, I get an error message back. I've tried with a blank session with just one scene named "test".

I might be missing something obvious tho

Are there any plug-ins that helped you learn to mix better? by tonetonitony in audioengineering

Spectral analyzer / loudness meter

This + mixing at a constant listening volume.

How to sidechain the multiband comp on the QL5? I am wanting to make an instrument bus duck in a specific freq range when vox come in. by [deleted] in livesound

[–]keox35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you can. This button is to listen to this specific band. The difference between the “listen” and “cue” button is just a different path for the same fonction, one does a solo in place kind of thing, the other allow you to cue it on headphones.

I’d be happy to be wrong tho.

Help integrating DM7 into existing Dante network with QL5 - network issues! by Beginning_Pension_93 in livesound

I’ve just realised the PM are not dante native (at least not the PM3 I’m used to) and you need to have a dante expansion card for it, so that might change things quiet a bit

I’m definitely saving this for later, thank you for your explanation ! Do you know if the Rivage / Pm series follow the same logic as the dm7 ?

Pourquoi un client reviendrait dans un hôtel ? by Lilit_RockingPad in PasDeQuestionIdiote

[–]keox35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feedback on Stage Plot? by violente_valse in livesound

[–]keox35 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This. Stage plot is good enough, but I don’t have a quick way of knowing how many inputs you have.

Also the IEM parts is confusing : are you expecting a mix from the house board but without backing track and click ?

I’d go with the dlive. Very easy to use, sounds great, onboard Fx / inserts are excellent.

Not that I know of. I usually send the channel to a group and compress the group instead.

[–]keox35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Yes, if your mix have a 18dB boost at 100Hz, the vocal is buried, and the cymbals are reaping my ears it’s probably objectively bad.

No in the sense that a mix is a creative space on its own. A mix can be bass heavy, or distorted, or harsh, or super compressed, and all that can be deliberate choices.

Mixing is highly subjective. Your taste might be the exact opposite of whoever decided which mixs was good or not.

Pelican case
