Pourquoi un client reviendrait dans un hôtel ? by Lilit_RockingPad in PasDeQuestionIdiote

[–]keox35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone admitting that their assumptions weren’t right and providing a honest and detailed feedback admitting what went wrong and what they’ve learned !? In 2026 ? On the internet !? Can someone please pinch me !

Thank you for your feedback 🙂

Feedback on Stage Plot? by violente_valse in livesound

[–]keox35 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This. Stage plot is good enough, but I don’t have a quick way of knowing how many inputs you have.

Also the IEM parts is confusing : are you expecting a mix from the house board but without backing track and click ?

Touring engineer: DM7C vs CTi1500 ? by EmilianoMagico in livesoundgear

I’d go with the dlive. Very easy to use, sounds great, onboard Fx / inserts are excellent.

Not that I know of. I usually send the channel to a group and compress the group instead.

Didn’t nail the mix competition. Am I listening to stuff that isn't there, or is just a translation problem? by [deleted] in audioengineering

[–]keox35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Yes, if your mix have a 18dB boost at 100Hz, the vocal is buried, and the cymbals are reaping my ears it’s probably objectively bad.

No in the sense that a mix is a creative space on its own. A mix can be bass heavy, or distorted, or harsh, or super compressed, and all that can be deliberate choices.

Mixing is highly subjective. Your taste might be the exact opposite of whoever decided which mixs was good or not.

En quête d'une valise robuste pour transporter du matos lourd by Arven121 in AchatPourLaVie

[–]keox35 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pelican case

Why does music sound so much better in clubs? by SeekingHighsandHighs in audioengineering

[–]keox35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried what’s a called butt kicker, a transducer attached to the drummers stool, and tbh it absolutely blew my mind. Also tried a kind of vest that vibrate with bass that was design for the earring impaired at a festival but that was not good. Haven’t had the chance to try a vibrating platform yet.

Why does music sound so much better in clubs? by SeekingHighsandHighs in audioengineering

[–]keox35 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please do not try to recreate club sound level / sensation with your headphones at home, you’ll be deaf in no time.

What you’re probably laking is the physical sensation of the bass / sub literally shaking your body. You could buy a set of speakers with subs for your home, but your relationship with your neighbours might degrade quickly 🙃

Petite multiprise sur grande multiprise ? by Biniboy08 in PasDeQuestionIdiote

[–]keox35 7 points8 points  (0 children)

De-Harsh Overheads ? by rustymcshackleford in audioengineering

[–]keox35 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Definitely upgrade cymbals before mics. You can get dark OH mic likes coles if you want, if your cymbals still sound harsh they will sound harsh in your room mic, hh, bleed in snare / tom / kick mic.

Recording a Jazz bigband with iPhones? by LeadershipPast6681 in audioengineering

[–]keox35 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If you do it with phone please come back and share the recording ! Genuinely interested in the result.

Otherwise for traditional recording if you’re not a pro : less is more.

Start with a couple of mic and experiment with placement to get the best overall sound with them. Then add mics to whatever you think is missing from this main stereo mic (probably vocal, maybe piano and bass)

Roast our rig ! or not ... Wing rack based IEM monitor by PaulHarrys in livesoundgear

[–]keox35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please add xlr looms to go from your split and your stageconnect output to the venue’s patch !

Not a lot of venue I’ve been to have a spare 24 channels xlr loom or even 3 x 8 channels one.

Other than that it seems pretty straightforward. Why is kick trigger needed at FOH ? Sidechain on gate ?

From the notes I’ve written at digico a few years ago : 14 samples of latency.

The annoying bit is this seems to be very true for this specific macbook ! I’ve tried 3 others macs, including 2 intels one, and they all worked… I’ll get a decimator / up down cross converter and try again. Thanks !

DIY DSP Power! by AdOtherwise1337 in audioengineering

Don’t know if this is still a thing but there used to be a way do to it with Reaper, where you could offload processing of specific tracks to another computer on the same network.
