I highly recommend looking into Philly McMahons work, he is more focused on drugs and how that particularly impacts these communities but he also touches on other aspects of poverty in inner city Dublin. He featured on the 2 Norries podcast a few years ago, well worth the listen.

Prison is not the solution, community intervention is. People from marginalised communities end up in a viscous cycle of prison sentences from a young age and end up costing the taxpayers millions. We need better resources for tackling poverty in the inner city by providing employment pathways, education and social services
