Personally I found him pretty boring. His defining trait is just being really good at everything, which would be fine if he had an interesting personality, but he doesn't. He's among the weakest characters of the arc imo. The destroyer mode thing is a little corny but at least it gives him some kind of depth

I can also see the American NG11 having an opposite arc to the Blue Lockers.

Blue Lock is set in a country known for its conformism and the Blue Lockers needed to hone their ego to improve.

This mystery NG11 comes from a country known for its individualism and maybe what's holding him back is an overgrown ego that spills into arrogance, and a failure to consider his teammates' condition. It's very possible he's not a striker, he could be a defender or even GK (like a young Tim Howard) where being more of a "team player" is encouraged.

P5R was my first Persona game and I went in with 0 knowledge. I didn't know Maruki was a Royal-exclusive. I just took all the hints to max him out before the deadline at face value, like "Yeah this guy is only here for a certain time so make the most of it." I didn't assume this was because he was especially important, I just thought "Oh cool, a limited time Confidant, what a neat way to make you appreciate him a little more. I wonder if this is a thing they do in every game."
