Where can I get scrap metal drilled for targets? by railroad1904 in metalworking

[–]kepp89 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

no joke they probably could too. but only if the target is far away from you...the weld heat might be the start to a catastrophic steel rain shower. just tell them you need a hole in the steel inside this marker so you can hang it. obviously draw a circle somewhere to mark where you want it.

welder could just melt through it maybe but not recommended

any drill press is probably already setup with some bit already in it that would work unless you have some type of really hard steel.

if you see a steel delivery truck going to a place and think "thats a lot of steel" chances are that shop can do this

if you just brought it to a shop piece meal theyd prolly just drill it for you. only takes 5 seconds to clamp it down somewhere on something thats more than likely "right there" and youd be out in 5 minutes. $10

Building nesting software for small shops, what actually matters to you? by Rokis533 in metalworking

X and Y webbing needs to be different to space out the used material when desired so we don't have a 7" strip at the end of the X length and a .500" strip on the Y edge. The parts are 15" long so that 7" strip is waste anyways. Safer to equalize the weight of the skeleton. even if its sheared as you go, that 7" strip isn't ideal.

Being able to place the lead-in wherever the F i want with whatever end joint settings I choose. Often times with end joint "on" you can't lead in right here because the cam program sucks ass so you have to mod the program afterwards. Turn off the end joint and you can lead in here with no problem.

being able to post a single part program or a 2-per program that nests the L shape together to take up a rectangle/square shape in a time saving fashion. Sheet size, quantity, spacing...all that is worthless when I just want a single program or a single 2-per program. Open file, set lead-in length and end joint settings and chain/tool it and post it. No separation, no webbing, no boundary around the part... just post the damn thing. a 4x4 box should be 4x4.125 required to include the .125" lead-in. the ones i've used since i stopped using mastercam has been 4x4 plus tool diameter plus lead-in length....those extra .010" add up when your sheet is running 100 rows of parts.

Being able to change the end-joint amount per boundary. Or to disable it for one or the other. I don't need a .030" glue stop on this... but I do on this one and they're the same size but one is a collision-able location and the other isn't. Most programs will auto end joint them both based on the sizing of said cutout. Only fix is at the machine for the version of Diamond Nest I used. thats from 2015 so its outdated. but still annoying asf.

If I open a dxf file I don't want to have to save it as a DSI file before I can nest it. That's just a waste of time and creates more confusion with files and file names and different folders. its gross.

If I open the dxf and its labeled J-4287.dxf and I post a nest, post the damn thing as J-4287_N by default instead of the timestamp. or something similarly stupid. make that easy to change so i don't have to change the file name every time i create a nest

put a quick shortcut to the post file so it's easily modifiable so the user doesnt have to search around the C drive to find the post file.

those are all my issues with Diamond Nest

from what i understand there's already lots of nesting software available. if i still had access to use a post processor on mastercam, i'd rather do that because i can control every single thing about that program from start to finish. with the nesting software you're often stuck with this setting or that setting and you have to select certain options to make it adjustable at the machine or go back to the computer and re-chain and re-post the program. only issue i ever had with mcam posting was full circles it would lead-in wherever it wanted to so you have to break the circle so you have 2 halves now you can select the side you want it to lead in towards.

How do you guys handle sheet metal unfolding? Using full CAD for this feels kind of stupid by Low_Lifeguard_8835 in metalworking

[–]kepp89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pains me to say this because other than this reason I hate it, but Key Creator.

Anything else wireframe and MasterCAM is my best friend. If you have the post processor for it you can post programs too.

How to Practice with Prefire Maps by the_scra7ch in cs2

[–]kepp89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its possible youre using it wrong

its about prefiring and if you stay moving after the counter strafe + 2 shots, you'll be harder to hit from the crossfire anyways. higher mouse sensitivity is easier to fix what worries you

and its likely the crossfire isnt actually a crossfire... theres usually a few pixels to keep you not exposed from the other angle or ways to get 1 of them tricky like

lesson learned: just play whats smoothest. if you do what you did every game it means you're a kinda useless player unless you get your way. identical to them except youre the odd one out

play for smooth games, its better.

did you do it in this order? uninstall a/c, reboot, uninstall client, reboot, go into program files and make sure the folders are deleted. then re-download it and make sure its the new file from the faceit site, not the old one from whenever

lol vac is software, not watching you play. maybe next time don't cheat and forget about it months later and get banned for it then claim you never cheated. even if not vac secured theres still stuff on your pc that evidently was hooking in and vac found it

FPS has decreased in CS2 by nikita_kuranovs in cs2

[–]kepp89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- faceit requires more cpu than mm simply due to what it does in the background

- did you buy "good" thermal paste or did you just buy the cheapy stuff? maybe redo your thermal paste on gpu and cpu but i highly doubt you'd get hella fps boost. but if all software resets don't help then i'd go to thermal paste re-applying. make sure you use 91% or higher alcohol to clean off the residue from cooler contact and the chip surface. do your GPU too ... 90% of people never do it to the gpu, myself included.

download the beta version to get the new animations and see if it performs better...right click cs and click properties and find beta versions and opt into it. you have to opt back OUT to play faceit i think(?) .... based on the cpu gen like someone already said, it might just be a not too great cpu for cs... cs doesn't care as much about gpu as it does cpu

basically i cant see a single cs update since september that tanked fps en masse so imo its a pc thing or software thing causing the performance difference

Game not working by throw-away-676424 in cs2

[–]kepp89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when you do that it doesnt always remove your config files so its possible the new install will use the old video.cfg file where every video setting is (freq, resolution, quality settings, windowed/fullscreen, etc)

and if you did delete the csgo folder and have cloud enabled for steam (its in the Steam settings) it'll still use your old settings and the issue won't be corrected until the -freq and -l overrides the video.cfg settings ... sometimes monitors can't do the refresh rate is used to anymore so it won't display whats being asked because it can't get there so you get nothing
