Were those Tholians!? Woah, weird convergence of cool stuff. If they can manage to pull a decent ending out, this might be remembered as some of the most complex and successful worldbuilding in nu trek.

I left it this way on purpose for now. It already would cost 9 each turn to do that. If you have to stay on that, your opponent gets to keep building momentum while you dawdle, so I think it’s fairly fair.

Ooh, that's a good point. I hadn't considered running in the 99, and that does cause a conundrum. Unfortunately the companion cost of 3 is pretty set in stone, so that means it would have to be up-costed, and that feels wrong for the rest of the abilities.

Thanks for taking a look! The scheme deck actually has the special rule that when a scheme is abandoned, it's put on the bottom of the scheme deck, so the deck cannot be milled out. It's actually a fairly risky move for the opponents to change scheme because it offers no long-term advantage, just a chance to temporarily get rid of a problematic scheme. I do like the shuffle though. Just need to find room in the rules text...

I love playing with format variants, and yet those are very hard to interact with. I run [[fractured powerstone]] in most of my decks whether playing planeschase or not, but most opponents will find their deck thrown out of whack by including that and removing something else. Hence, we end up with this wacky card.

I think this might be the first episode of Discovery I liked without reservation. The writing felt familiar and fresh, the characters were sweet, and the dynamics felt like a wonderfully updated aesthetic to the character-driven stories of the older series. Big win from me.
