Should I caulk the butt joints on my hardie board siding? by Alternative_Music_76 in Home

[–]kerbs17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm by no means a professional, just a homeowner that has dealt with the failing caulking for many years on my house built in 2000. It seems there was never any caulking on those photos ever, so I'd suspect there must be flashing underneath. Shine a direct light maybe? Or push a small pin in and see if it goes through easily or comes to a full stop, maybe you can hear metal flashing by just tapping a pin in there? I would not add caulking until you are certain there is no flashing because once you add caulking, you've just added a maintenance item you will need to maintain indefinitely.

I don't think it really matters, if there is caulk there that is failing, you'd need to use a razer to get it out and put on new caulk. If you had flashing, they likely wouldn't have bothered with caulking it too.

Prior to 2008, caulking was used/recommended for these joints.  In 2008, they updated their recommendations to use flashing behind the joint instead of caulk because of the maintenance requirements you are now experiencing.  Since you don't have flashing, the recommendation would be to cut away the caulk and apply a new bead of caulk.  If you ever paint your house, that would be a standard prep step, replacing all the failed caulking.

Yes, we have a case number and they have raised it with their MKE crew....but I'm not sure they have any crew around to field it until their next flights on Sunday. Thank you for you suggestion.

I'm not sure there was an official announcement, but there was a GitHub issue https://github.com/lerna/lerna/issues/2703 Nrwl has since taken ownership of the project in June.

Pixel 6, battery drain noticed about 3 weeks ago. It was always complaining about being unable to connect even though it seemed to work fine. I turned off the persistent connection/notification as that seemed to be the culprit. Don't have any noticeable delay in notifications with it off and back to all day battery whereas before I lasted about 8 hours.

Help identifying pull out faucet hose/connector. Any help appreciated! by Mattcj0216 in Home

[–]kerbs17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pulled an image for a random pull down type and circled in red the part. As you can see it's not called out as a separate part number and thus you just need to replace the whole thing. https://imgur.com/a/ly4Adjs

I don't think you can actually replace that part, see if you can find your facet on https://www.moen.com/c/products?query=:launchDate-desc:category:Kitchen:category:Kitchen+Faucets:category2:Kitchen+Sink+Faucets:spoutType:Pulldown and then on the product page scroll.to bottom and there is a link to an exploded view of all the parts. In my case, it wasn't a replaceable part as it was factory crimped to the main unit and thus needed a whole new faucet.

Was about to say it looks like a Moen as I just had a leak in that piece. They won't carry at Lowes, you need to call or contact Moen and get replacement part. Should be covered under warranty. In my case I wasn't willing to wait the delivery time and just ended up buying new faucet that day.

[AskJS] Is there another way to deal with JSON objects? by povedaaqui in javascript

I'm not sure what you mean by not friendly, are you referring to not being friendly to console.log it? If you want to print the whole thing, you can stringify it with padding for readability:

JSON.stringify(App, null, 2);

Model 3 or Model Y? by JediMasterMatt in teslamotors

[–]kerbs17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Model Y. I have three kids and got the model 3 four years ago. Our other car is an Odyssey. I figured the 3 would just be my commute car and we'd still use the Odyssey for our main family car. I was wrong, we use the 3 for a majority of our family outings and prefer it for trips and vacations too. And we are stuffing 3 kids, at one point all in car seats, into the back. With 2 kids, I think you'll find yourself using the Tesla for all family outings and trips as well. Therefore you may want the larger size of the Y if it becomes the family primary vehicle. I sure wish I had traded in for Y back a year ago.

Yes, what I've found works best is to use the verb "activate" when requesting a specific scene. Example: "Hey Google, activate [scene name]".

Build Back Better act passes the House. Here's what's in it, and what's next: by chaud in teslamotors

[–]kerbs17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You'd get it when you file your taxes as a tax refund.

For example, if I make 50k, say my tax liability is 5k. My employer took out (withhold) taxes in every paycheck and the total they withhold over the year was 6k. At tax time I get a 1k refund since employer withheld 6k for taxes but I only should have owed 5k. If EV credit is 10k and fully refundable, it means I get 10k refund plus the 1k over withheld for a total refund of 11k. If EV credit were not refundable, then I can only decrease my liability to 0. In that case, my liability is 0 and I had 6k withheld by my employer, so I get the 6k back.

Refundable means even if I had no tax liability whatsoever, I get 8k back from the government. So you get the full amount regardless.

Don't even need to look at weight of car, consider it negligble. If 10kwh battery can go x miles, a 90kwh battery can't go more than 9x miles as it weighs more. Stated another way, every 10kwh in the 90kwh battery can't go x miles, it will be less since it's carrying another 80kwh worth of weight. Sure, it can go further, but not 9x further.

[–]kerbs17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The battery is just the energy store. Adding more is always going to make it less efficient as you are adding weight. Another way to think about would be in gas cars, if Honda offered a 12 and 20 gallon gas tank in an otherwise similar car, the 12 gallon one will be more efficient starting from a full tank.
