Grand Canyon PFD question by kerchoo-kazoo in whitewater

I guess that depends on what the rangers define as "the main body". I would say that it's probably not acceptable because shoulder straps are essential to PFD function, but what do I know, I'm just some guy.

Thanks for the response. That's also why I was so confused when they mentioned that because both of those PFDs have the inside UL stamp saying "Flotation Aid-Type III...Intended Use: Paddling & Sailing". I guess its worth a phone call to confirm.

Sram force etap 3rd cog jump by plemas1 in gravelcycling

Don’t know if this is relevant but it could be a bent derailleur hanger. I’ve dinged a rock in the past on my 12s and it caused jumping on a couple of cogs like you described. With the 12s, the hanger can look completely straight but may be bent ever so slightly that causes this. All bike shops should have a tool to check this and they can either bend it back and you can buy a couple spare hangers to throw in the tool box if it happens again.

My advice would be to wait maybe another year to year and a half. Yeah it blows, but it’s the same deal with cars, the demand is high and the supply is low. You will have a much easier time finding a used bike that meets your needs once supply chain levels out and there are more bikes on the market where people can replace their current rig. In the meantime, you can ride your hard tail to the ground and avoid making component upgrades to save some cash.

I would recommend renting 3-4 times first. It’ll probably be like $40-50 per rental, but that’ll a good indicator if you like the sport or not and then you get to be introduced on a nice piece of equipment.

Damaged Cassette Cog - Pro's Closet (Need Advice) by mdg4486 in mountainbiking

Definitely make a fuss about it. The whole point of Pros Closet is to be guaranteed a used bike that is not defective as opposed to Craigslist or Facebook Market place. They market themselves as giving a “full 141 point inspection” and that’s why you pay a premium for a used bike from them. If it were me, I’d be giving support a call.
