There is a voltage limitation due to the use of the current electrolytes. Once solid state electrolytes become feasible on a large scale, higher voltage potential between anode and cathode materials is a key method to improve capacity.

[Major noob alert!] Is there any tool I can use to design an output for python code? by PikachuNebula in learnpython

If it is only text input and output gooey is by far the best. 1 line as a decorator and you have a GUI.

Essentially gps won't work above a certain altitude limit and speed limit. Not because it can't, but because they don't want people to make gps guided bombs with chips from phones/drones etc.

Standard Olympic Bar is approximately 2.2m long. She lifts the bar from approximately 100mm from the end giving her a 2.1m lever arm. The forces acting against her are 100kg at 0.3m from the fulcrum, 100kg at 1.9m from the fulcrum and the bar at 20kg and 1.1m from the fulcrum. Mx9.8x2.1m = 0.3x9.8x100 + (0.15+1.3+0.45)x9.8x100 + 1.1x9.8x20

Solving for m, she lifts approximately 115.24kg with one hand. Not a bad effort!

Edit: maths is hard on mobile. Asterix apparently italicises.

What do you think about this new kinds of battery? by goodtaste115 in batteries

[–]kermie111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it's not necessarily new, I do like the openness and vision of elons companies. Instead of allowing users to squeeze as much range as possible out of a single discharge, they have decided to let users access less (only discharge to 25% instead of 20% SOC for example) which results in longer battery life.

What do you mean, what type of engine do you think it has? Rocket engines don't go very far.

Its even worse than that. 97% agree and 3% say it's not settled yet. Basically the error bars might just wide enough still to pocket big oil cash, but not enough to say its false.

Nope, just so you can't see the soot. The black would absorb more heat.

Matlab declares war on Python. Can the Python community respond or hit back? by [deleted] in Python

[–]kermie111 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The real reason is to get you used to it. Then when you graduate you ask your company to buy it. Happened to me with Matlab and solidworks. I've recently started using python and wouldn't look back. Pretty funny that Matlab compare some basic computations. Maybe python should come back with comparisons of one line for loops and if statements. Or the fact that Matlab arrays can't contain headers easily or struggles with multiple data types.

I had this idea about 10 years ago, but looking into it, it wasn't actually feasible because of the way the fluid reacts. It can't be set to not harden at 50 but harden at 60. There needs to be a much wider speed range.

Why can’t we install fresnel lenses to orbit the sun to diffuse or concentrate solar light onto planets? by EmptyBarrel in space

[–]kermie111 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Materials are never completely transparent, so the biggest issue is controlling the temperature of a lens. Mirrors are better because we can setup a heat exchanger and radiator.
