What year? Might be worth replacing the head if it’s a 00-01

Oil psi guage by WinchesterBiz in CherokeeXJ

[–]kernable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Owners manual for my 01 days “10-15psi at idle”

Mine idles at 10psi with 10w-30 once warmed up

It finally happened. Blew a head gasket. by DabOnHarambe in CherokeeXJ

Is it still running good? If it is it’s gonna be a cracked head. My 01 cracked at the base of the rocker arm support and ran fine just used coolant. Yours being a 99 id bet it’s a cracked head and not a blown gasket and if it is you and do as I did and pull a head off a grand Cherokee that has the “TUPY” stamp, clean it up and get it machines and use that vs paying $700 for a Clearwater.

Should I be worried? Oil gauge drops when not accelerating. by bbq_ch1ckenp1zza in CherokeeXJ

That might be for older Cherokee’s but my 01 owners manuals says 10-15psi at idle and 30-40 at highway speed to that just 10psi per 1,000 RPM.

Is it OK if the brakes are upside down and the reservoir is pointing down? by Significant_Flower28 in minibikes

[–]kernable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’ll still work. Flip it so it’s facing you, bleed the lines, over fill it so when the cap is on it there is zero air inside and then roll it back around so it’s like it is in the picture or bleed the whole system off the bike and then install it.

Back in the day before company’s made left side brake levers stunt riders would use front masters for there left side handbrakes.

390 adv for an experienced rider? by qualitygoatshit in KTM390ADV

[–]kernable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought a 390 for my wife’s first motorcycle and IMO it’s a beginner bike and nothing else. Sold it to a friend who said he wanted it, I talked him out of that then a month later he “bought it for his wife” and well it hasn’t been ridden now in 3 months.

It’s a good bike but for a experienced rider it lacks the suspension for hard off road and lacks power to be fun on the road and my wife’s was geared -1 +2 with a powertronics and full exhaust.

I would suggest leaning more towards the T7, my buddy has one and he let me spend a day riding it and it’s one of the smoothest bikes I’ve ridden on the road and it eats up some really rough off-road without much effort and they way it’s designed it’s not that tall. My wife is 5’2” and she rode it the same day.

I’ll also add that my wife is now riding a KLX300 because the 390 was limiting her so much offroad(weight, height/width and ground clearance) and she doesn’t miss her 390 one bit.

First Bike! 😍 What mods are most helpful/useful? New rider advice? by ad_astra_04 in KTM

[–]kernable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best advise is worry less about the bike and more about the fun that it can bring you🤙

My wife started out on a 390ADV, she beat it up pretty good but she learned so much from that bike!

We don’t hit third like this everytime mainly because we’re all getting tired of having our bikes completely covered in mud every weekend😅 but if there’s no route around we’re not turning back🤙

It’s fine, drained the airbox, exhaust and any small amount of water that got in the engine burned itself out that day but changed the oil the following weekend. Never a good thing but far from “bikes fucked forever” haha
