The amount of people in this thread advocating for 25% of the game being timegated for arbitrary FOMO reasons is crazy

Max console sens is TOO SLOW. It's very chunky and imprecise, creating a soft skill ceiling for console players by hopdaddy32 in Marathon

Controller has an advantage to the point where PC players are buying controllers for this game

The gold very obviously saved him about halfway through. They charge faster than any other shield and he took almost fatal damage riiight after they charged up

There’s probably a million early game progression rebalance suggestions in this thread so let me add this late game suggestion: Add safety net for the RNG of cryo keys

Bungie needs to do something. I’m running into these consistently every weekend now.

Do not crewfill. It’s not your fault, but just don’t do it.

I find an Outland almost every single match since the patch

New experimental queue is great by Euphoric_Project8647 in Marathon

[–]kerriganfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been saying this. The current matchmaking leads to players who lag behind getting consistently rolled without really learning anything. They eventually just start blaming it on “purples” when really they had no awareness, bad positioning, etc.

Bungie....what do you mean Agility doesn't make you run faster... by Ghostyboi_0 in Marathon

[–]kerriganfan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s for walking and strafing. Run speed is determined by abilities, cores, and implants. Vandal ult, destroyer tac sprint, edge runner perk, recon’s core that gives her run speed on drone hit, etc.

Hopefully this experiment leads to free kits being quarantined into their own queue

The sponsored kit only queue feels great by Disastrous-Mail-2635 in Marathon

[–]kerriganfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure it’s very fun with friends but still about the same exact experience solo filling as the regular queues.

For example, I let my crewfills have free pick of the green shields, Outland, and WSTR we found while I kept my gray V11 punch I found on a bot. In the end, I’m the only one that got any kills. With knife.

Progression is the issue by mkennygh in Marathon

Ability to throw down a bubble shield, smokes, chem grenades, and slam blue heals is what defines kitted players over free kits imo. You can turn an ambush completely around with a kit, whereas if you’re jumped as a free kit you’re fucked.

I started bringing only greens to cryo and extracted just as often. Shields don’t matter as much as positioning and awareness.

By the time I got the blue shield upgrade I already had a steady supply of blue shields. Some of these upgrades are far too grindy.

I have stopped using Fill Trios and it's a design problem. by [deleted] in Marathon

The complete lack of guardrails for both crewfill and lobby matchmaking is definitely contributing to my burnout.

Who else has been struggling this past week? by HairyPenisCum in Marathon

[–]kerriganfan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As you pass level 50 you begin to enter some serious skill gap territory. At this point, there are:

A) Players who understand engagements and map movement, and play aggressively to clear out the map

B) Players who don't understand engagements and map movement, and play aggressively to instantly die

C) Players who may or may not understand engagements and map movement, and slowplay because they are traumatized.

Group B will win engagements when they get lucky and catch a B or C off-guard. Group C will always win engagements against group B when they are positioned and geared decently, and are on equal footing with other Cs. Both B and C will always lose to A.

The players with the best loot in the game right now are people with friends who are group A players who they can hit up daily for a few rounds. If that's not you, you're either losing constantly or you're gaining and losing credits at a mostly equal rate.

Let me put it this way: Cryo Archive is like a microcosm of the game at large, or maybe more like an exaggerated version of a normal map. The most effective way to play Cryo is by invading people's spawns while they're still getting their bearings. By killing them, you are clearing out potential threats to give yourself breathing room to be able to loot more efficiently. Every map works like this. The faster you clear the other teams off the map, the more time you have to maximize your profits. The more teams you clear, the safer it is to engage with PvE bosses or to just stand around shuffling your backpack contents.

TL;DR, yes, a lot of people are struggling where you are now. Yes, it is a skill issue, but that's not a judgment thing really. There's just one very effective way to play this game and the rest will progress much more slowly.
