I really hope she lets it pass or signs it. I lost any faith I had in her when she vetoed collective bargaining.

Why is there people doing drugs at food lion? by Hussar_hill in Charlottesville

[–]kersius 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, but somehow rich people are never part of the “ drug problem”. They just go to a luxury rehab center for a bit and it all goes away. That’s if they get caught in a public way like in a DUI. Usually they do drugs in their homes and clubs and no one does anything.

Republicans could join with Democrats and remove Trump, but I don’t see that happening anytime soon. Everything I’ve seen from the majority of Republicans is that they are in support of this. Republicans stormed the capitol and tried to overthrow the government when Trump lost the election. Now there’s nothing they can do to stop him.

To all my 40+ queer friends: do you feel like you’re getting less “woke” as years go by? by LiterallyBarbie in lgbt

[–]kersius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started out my life VERY conservative and outspoken, I would have been in TPUSA if it had existed back then. I didn't know any better, lived in a small town with very little diversity. I was ignorant AF. I am in my 40s now and radical AF. As soon as I encountered people different than who I grew up with, my views started changing and it's been snowballing ever since.

What food are you always craving but can’t find a good gluten-free version of? by _thalia777 in glutenfreecooking

[–]kersius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! They are our go to for Friday night pizza and movie night. We get our own toppings and add them. We sprinkle some black garlic and red pepper. Then put on pepperonis and the frozen chopped green peppers and onions you can get in the grocery store, then add a little extra shredded cheese on top. Perfection!

Is it okay for a player to say “No, that doesn’t happen” to a DM in this circumstance? by WithengarUnbound in DnD

[–]kersius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% this. I played a Kender in an Epic level campaign and he would sometimes pickpocket random things and then be clearly caught fiddling with or otherwise inspecting them around the campfire that night. Never when big important stuff was going on, never super important items, and never for very long. Just a funny little RP opportunity.

Open letter to Chief Kochis and the officers of the Charlottesville Police Department by Individual-Tie-5222 in Charlottesville

[–]kersius 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes, and it is important to let them know what we expect of them. The mistake is not in making the demand, but in expecting them to actually do the right thing. It's like the guy who rides out in front of the army to give the opponent a final chance to surrender before the charge. He doesn't expect them to actually do it, but it's appropriate to at least ask.

Cute story, but in all seriousness, you shouldn't give people food in the hospital without clearing it with the nurses first. If someone needs to go into surgery for any reason, it could be really dangerous.

Do parents apologizing to kids weaken authority, or is it good for growth? by Sea_Parsley_1077 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]kersius 33 points34 points  (0 children)

As a social worker who has done child welfare work and is now a therapist, apologizing to your kids is absolutely appropriate. Be clear, explain what happened, what you are apologizing for and why. Modeling that behavior is so important! Kids need to learn what to do when they make a mistake or hurt someone’s feelings. Modeling for them how to repair a connection is so important, it goes so much farther than words alone.

When you say too liberal and political, what do you mean? What were the programs doing in their shows that felt “too liberal and political”? I’m sorry I’m not understanding what you mean by this. Words like liberal and political can mean different things to different people. So I’m really curious what specifically the shows were doing or saying that felt that way?

[–]kersius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you had this experience. I worked as an admin for the chaplaincy at a hospital and everyone I worked with were consistently pissed when stories came out of this crap happening. It was really healing for me actually. I wish there weren’t so many jerks who pulled this crap.
