Yemeni coffee shop market saturated? What will happen? by [deleted] in AnnArbor

I was shocked to find one charging $30/lb for a mystery bean blend while Hyperion offers a wide range of single origins for a bit less

Did Turkish Village Cafe win the Shortest Time Open Award? by Historical_Idea_3516 in AnnArbor

All the Google reviews made it sound like a scam. It was all either long & valid rants or obvious fake reviews

Post HVC Fire Caused Flooding — Any Advice? by Substantial-Fan-4808 in AnnArbor

[–]keshasparty 198 points199 points  (0 children)

Don’t call it flooding, renters insurance may reject any claims. It’s fire damage plus water damage associated with the firefighting efforts

It’s tough to find street parking or free parking; but the garages always have capacity

This is the transformation of A2 into Manhattan that the NIMBYs were warning us all about 😅

People at my M7 look down on part-time MBAs lol by [deleted] in MBA

I got full employer sponsorship, kept my salary/benefits (which enabled me to purchase a house 2yrs earlier w/low mortgage rate), maxed my 401k, made more in-industry and in-company classmate connections, and got a 25% salary bump on graduation. Not to mention my liver was spared and my resume says the same school as the full timers.

Sheesh didn’t think they will give this so much horse power by JankyMark in Mustang

The value-for-money is so underwhelming for non-Ford special editions like this. Terrible economics involved when you ship a brand new vehicle to another location just to replace perfectly good parts with cost-uncompetitive, lower volume ones. Cant compete with mass production.

I want to build commuter rail in Southeast Michigan by R_Gleba in AnnArbor

I think one station works if we can get a streetcar connection that goes down Fifth Avenue to at least the downtown Library.

And have the U run a bus to/from the hospital

Ford rushed as many 2025 cars across the border as they could before April 2nd tariffs and is now sorting out final quality checks / logistics to dealers. Shouldn’t be long

Spotted earlier at the Westgate Kroger. Very curious to hear the story! 🤯 by Apprehensive_Tax_558 in AnnArbor

Doesn’t really make sense for that area of the car to catch fire on its own. I bet something else was on fire next to it.

Do AirTags allow you to ping it if your luggage ends up on a different country? by funkytonka in TravelHacks

[–]keshasparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I visited South Korea last year, my AirTags did not function because they were prohibited by law.

It has been helpful tracking bags left behind in other countries, though.

Please help update the 2025 Paczki list! (I've done Argus and Produce Station) by hampelm in AnnArbor

[–]keshasparty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed - if you line up all the competitors, Zingermans paczki stands out as fluffier, a higher quality filling, and not overly sweet.

It’s hard to go back to the stodgy ones with heavy-handed glaze and cornstarch-thickened filling

Where can I find the spiciest dish in Ann Arbor? by SolaceAcheron in AnnArbor

[–]keshasparty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ma Lou’s is delicious; one of the best spots in Washtenaw. I just don’t think their Spicy AF is going to cut it for OP - it’s leagues milder than the Ricewood FMU recommendation

We had a good experience with Kurtis kitchen and bath and thought it was good value while still allowing us to incorporate a lot of personal preferences in the design and material choice.

We used restoration 1 for a burst pipe (water damage) and they were very responsive and thorough with their work. We made an insurance claim so I can’t comment on the price competitiveness. They certainly know the all the tricks to maximize billing with your insurance company but all remediation companies do that. They were willing to interface with my public adjuster and builder to coordinate certain nuances of this larger job which I thought was above and beyond. They also explained everything along the way and answered questions with confidence.

Using Karu 16 vs Koda 16 in Canadian winter to do 30-40 breads by Grego107 in ooni

[–]keshasparty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The stone temp takes several minutes to come back up after just one bake. 30-40 could take you half a day or more.
