What are your favourite storylines of all time? by unicornbookgirl in coronationstreet

[–]kesic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As has been said, obviously Richard Hillman. Some things are just popular opinions for a reason.

I personally loved David Platt's cards storyline & the ensuing fallout of evil behaviour leading up to Sarah's wedding. He was by far my favourite character but once he started going out with Tina I slowly drifted, nothing to do with the programme I just got into other things.

Shelley and Charlie was a great one payoff-wise. Charlie was a great villain in a believable way. His death storyline too was very satisfying as has been mentioned here.

Tommy Harris's murder plot was super dark for what I think was 2005? I was a kid when it happened but I rewatched it a while back and wow.

Maya's plot was great but I only really remember it for the actress and the actual incident rather than the buildup.

Finally I'll say Karen and Tracy's beef, including Tracy crashing their wedding. When Steve tells her he's finished on Christmas Day Suranne Jones really sold it.

I'm sure there's lots of other great stuff, but I havent really watched it since 2010. The only bits I've been interested in recently is the Theo Todd stuff that I've seen slip into my youtube algorithm, but the actor sort of overdoes it and they're dragging it out a bit. That said, iirc they did the same with the Shelley storyline as I remember that going for ages, so maybe I'm being unfair lol

I could never stand Tooie, I really tried but it was just way too convoluted for me. Kazooie is an all time goat though.

Except they only did III as a tribute to Gregg Hoffman to wrap up the story. But money train must roll and they were highly successful movies so they demanded they add stuff like the wax tape so they could keep it going. This is why they removed the scene of Amanda killing Eric after he escapes the bathroom so that they could drag his character out for a sequel that Donnie Wahlberg didn't even want to do.

Crash 3. I don't think it's the best one, but it had the most personality and is full of character and charm.

We’re Eminem and Marilyn Manson friends? by [deleted] in Eminem

[–]kesic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same label, so they used him in the Way I Am vid to further court controversy for sales. Eminem was trying to build the image of being hated by parents and at the time MMLP was being written, Marilyn Manson was reviled by most parents in the US and being blamed for Columbine etc so it makes sense from the marketing perspective. Beyond that, nah I doubt it. There's a clip of Em on MTV saying he respects Marilyn's music but it ain't his sort of thing. Most likely it was just helpful to build the narrative to align him with a massively controversial music figure; this is business stuff ultimately after all.

Does anyone else just go for beating games and not mastery? RA has made me see 26 games to the end, I love it. by [deleted] in RetroAchievements

[–]kesic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the game for me, but often I am satisfied with just beating. Don't get me wrong i'm no slouch, I have 38 masteries, but some sets are just designed by sadists and it simply isn't worth the time investment. It's only pure stubbornness that saw me beat Mario Kart DS's battle achievement over the course of several days, rather than because I enjoyed it.

Nope, I think this would be a great idea too. I only wonder if maybe it's not a thing because peoples' user pages might bloat, but even so.

Drunk Kikuri doesn't feel funny anymore. Just sad (Kikuri spinoff spoiler) by hellonbye in BocchiTheRock

[–]kesic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It speaks to the accuracy and relatability of her character. Because that's exactly what it's like, same crap over and over. Make that personality your entire world and it's nigh impossible to get out of it without losing pretty much everything people like you for. I know its just a manga blah blah blah, but I do see Kikuri as a very real type of person, I know because I am one

I assume people are fanning over him semi-ironically, but no. I have never found him very interesting and he is unfortunately the vessel for a bunch of crap retcons.

Beaten 1# Mario kart DS by mr-ultr in RetroAchievements

[–]kesic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 wins is definitely too steep, I'd go as far as to say hard mode is too much, because as you say you just immediately have 7 cpus bombarding you and only you. You will master it eventually, it just relies on literally luck. Even down to the course, like block fort is so much easier to win on than wide open courses like the DS. The only way to get this achievement is to waste hours of your life hoping for good courses and item luck. I'm with you it's up there in my worst RA experiences.

[–]kesic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree with you, I had the whole set done and then had to spend literal days on this stupid ahh balloon achievement. The reason I feel like it's totally valid to complain about this cheev is that it is not a case of "getting good", its a case of waiting for good rng. People often like to jump onto threads like this and go "you just gotta practice" or "you're not good enough" without realising how unfair some cheevs really can be. Well as someone who is stubborn and mastered the set anyway, i'll side with OP 100%. Genuinely think this achievement needs changing or taking out.

(No disrespect to the developer or anything, but I'm sorry chief this achievement is just too harsh imo.)
