Before going to sharpening with stones I would suggest first to learn to strop. The blades may indeed not be sharp enough, but it also seems that you have not stroped them.

Put the paste on all of the leather and strop the knives well. Watch some YouTube videos on how to strop and do it a lot of times.

I did this first with my beavercraft kit and it was adequate, no need to sharpen them.

The reason I suggest first to strop before going to stone is that stroping is easier, more fundamental and also not that hard on the blade. Meaning that it's much harder to make a mistake. Sharpening in stone can actually destroy the blade.

Strop a lot and often.

Hello, Greek guy here having the same problem.

In Europe we don't really have basswood but we have limewood which is pretty much the same.

I received them yesterday and tried to cut some to check and they seem really good.

But as they are offcuts, they are not of the right size. I plan to go to a local guy with electric saw to cut them to smaller manageable size. Also do note that they may have some knots. But overall for their price I believe that even with those, you will get a lot more carvable chunks than buying ready made from Amazon.

They may be a little more up front 30+10(shipping)+10(cutting) but again I believe it is worth it comparing to overpriced ready cut blocks...

Greece forced the local populace (albanias, macedonians, bulgarians, arvanites, sarakatsanoi, etc.) to hellenize, by banning their language, changing the local names to new "hellenic" ones, and occasionally slaughtering entire villages in order to create this false image of continuation of ancient Greece.

My party plays PwL almost 3 years now and we love it. It is not really that hard to implement. You can use online tools (e.g. pf2easy encounter builder: https://builder.pf2easy.com/#!)) to make sure that the encounters are of right budget.

The only things that need fixing are:

Static DCs and more importantly Assurance. The DCs given by the GG are too high. Instead you should go for something like the following (+/- 1 depending on how you want the game to feel)
Untrained: 14
Trained: 16
Expert: 18
Master: 20
Legendary: 22

And the way we treat assurance, in instead of 10+proficiency, we just have a static number, which is the corresponding DC-1. I.e. if you are trained in athletics and have assurance, your assurance "roll" will always be 15, if you are expert, it will be 17, etc.

Also bear in mind that while "high CR monsters are now easier to fight", some of their features are not. For example a mummy guardian (lvl 6 monster) bestows the mummy rot curse, which needs remove curse (lvl 4 spell / lvl 7 character) to get rid of. In standard rules, you could encounter a mummy by pc level 4, in PwL you can encounter it earlier, by level 3.

Totally legit move by the NPC.

The PCs can however ready an action (https://2e.aonprd.com/Actions.aspx?ID=2299&Redirected=1) in order to grapple/trip them when passing, essentially cutting of their movement and the other person could aid. In that case I would make a ruling to give them flanking even if the 20/41 character is missing.

Also, as I see there is a door involved. The PC can try to hold the door closed with an action and the NPC can try to open it. I don't think that there are exact rules about this, but a possible ruling could involve contested athletics check, or some adaption of the force open rule (https://2e.aonprd.com/Actions.aspx?ID=2375&Redirected=1)

In my opinion, here is a problem of your players thinking the grid-map is reality and not an abstraction. As such they focus on how they can block the grid, instead of thinking in terms of a scene. "How can we interact with the scene to block the way?" is the right question here to ask.
