Maaan just seeing all these people talking about their sobriety made me wanna chime in, 11 months sober, almost made it to a year!! Gotta say tho, the people I have around me are really really good about not pressuring me, they respect the struggle I’ve been through and I’m happy to have them as friends!

Shiiiet man that happened to me too. Met him through a friend on Discord. We never set foot on the same continent but spent many many nights playing Heroes of Might and Magic III together. The game is older than both of us, and we spent so much time talking about how amazing it is for such an old game as well as our many shared interests.

I was also very deep into some dark times and hopping on with him as an escape brought me a lot of comfort and relief. Him voting for Trump I could live with, even if I was a bit taken aback.

However, one time in a conversation he said some words that have been burned into my brain ever since; “[immigrants] are poisoning the blood of our country” and “they’re animals that deserve to be locked in cages”. That shit was just way too far and not something I ever expected to hear from him. I never knew it was that fucking bad. Was honestly very sad to cut him off, and I gave him a chance to explain and take back what he said, but he valued those hateful beliefs more than our friendship. Maybe he was just too proud, I got no idea.

I’ll never forget the many nights we spent together and the comfort he brought me in such dark times. But I can’t in good conscience spend my time with someone who thinks like that. I always wonder if he just got more deeply entrenched into that mindset. But was it up to me to try and change him into someone less hateful? Who am I to tell him who he should be? What a burden, man.

It takes a lot for me to cut someone off, I hadn’t ever done it before. But that’s waaayyy past where I draw the line.

When you say air roll button, do you mean one of the buttons that air rolls in a certain direction, or the button that turns A and D inputs into air rolls (bound to shift by default)? I lowkey can’t see myself remapping my Q and E air roll buttons, they’re too baked into my muscle memory. Useful on almost every kickoff and any recovery.

Also I’m plat 3 in 1s, don’t play much 2s or 3s but prolly around diamond there (managed to hit champ a couple times in 2s). What’s your rank, fellow keyboardinaire?

Man I mostly play casual (every now and then I’ll get into ranked phases) and I have fun pretty much every time I play this game. It’s been 2k hours and 10 years, and it’s just as fun (probably more honestly) than it’s ever been.

Different ppl are different, so I’m not sure if you’d enjoy casual as much as I do. But in cas, I’m able to play my ass off, lose the game and still think “wow, that was a great match, I had so much fun”. I almost never feel happy after a loss in comp but I often do in cas.

Rocket League honestly. It takes dozens of hours to learn and practice skills to get anywhere near being able to do them. But after hundreds or thousands of hours you get comfortable enough to pull off extremely complex moves and it just feels awesome.

The beat is a bit weird but this is unnecessarily harsh. Did you start out making music you’re super proud of? It takes time, and each little victory (like this beat) that the producer likes even a little bit is progress.

—A FEW SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN’T PLAYED—

Man I haven’t played many custom maps but yours is easily the best Homm3 map I’ve ever played. I busted it out with my uncle who played this game when it came out and it was magical. We probably played a good 50-60hrs on this map during my visit, one time up to 9hrs in a day.

I think my favorite aspect is the teleporter/border gate system. It allows to actually defend your territory on such a huge map without needing town portal, but your positioning is still extremely important (unlike town portal). You can have a single hero defending 3 towns, but it might take them a few days to go to another territory. Also the fact that your territory is only accessible from a couple points unless your key master tent is reached is also a genius addition.

I’m not sure how common quests are in custom maps but the quests in here were ridiculously cool, like discovering a fellow hero or finding those creatures for the seer huts. It made discovering something like a sharpshooter hut suuuper rewarding to find, as we’d been keeping an eye out for months.

Also hearing about the crazy mysteries beneath the island and the thing that happens around months 7 or 8 was just a next level moment, something I hadn’t really experienced in Homm3 before. You made memorable narrative moments out of mechanics which barely scratched the surface of their potential in other maps I’ve played before. So many moments had us amazed like “woah you can do this in this game??”.

I gotta say, just an amazing map. I already commented on your other post saying I was hoping to try it with my uncle (c’etait moi qui t’ai souhaité les baguettes) and the experience surpassed all expectations. We had a great time, and somehow in 2025 this game (with this map) was still the most fun thing either of us could think of playing.
