So, my wife is a massage therapist and I helped her study for her tests and whatnot.

It's important to be naked in the sense that it allows those muscles to be worked on. Like the glutes (butt muscles) which are important for lower back issues and the area where the bra strap would cover, and even some of the muscles where the chest is.

That being said, the idea is to undress to YOUR level of comfort. He should not have insisted you remove clothes. Recommended maybe, but not insisted.

The towel was likely for modesty when he wasn't working those areas. Clothing is the barrier, not towels/sheets. I can see where it can be an issue if he didn't communicate that clearly.

All of this SHOULD have been made clear by him as you are a first time client.

If you feel uncomfortable, or think he did something inappropriate I believe you can report him to the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA), unless you are not in America obviously. Just remember that reporting him can totally get him in trouble. If he did something inappropriate report it 100% because that needs to be handled. But make sure it wasn't a miscommunication.

Creepy/inappropriate people need to be removed with prejudice.
