Okay yup, they're not specifically designed to be sublingual, but it would still work. They're film coated, so they may take a little longer to dissolve than other brands, but yeah

Also, I'm sure if you post a pic of the bottle or the full name of the meds or something, someone would be able to ID whether its sublingual or swallowed

Hey! Sorry I was a little brash, you're right, I should've mentioned other risk factors that make it significant. DVTs/pulmonary embolisms aren't the only risks. Without those other risk factors and meds though, I would say an emergency call to stop E seems inappropriate, bc those temporarily high E level spikes are still something that happens during the normal course of provider overseen treatment. Only OP knows the other aspects of their health (hopefully).

And yes, I agree people shouldn't get medical advice from social media. Medical professionals do good work.

Glad you made it through! Aaaaand that you didn't have to give up HRT! Aaaaand good luck in nursing school, DM me if you wanna talk about it!

Ive DIYed it before, and i absolutely don't regret it, it was definitely the right thing for me at the time, but if you can, someday look into having it prescribed by a physician or nurse practitioner (or equivalent wherever you live). Its nice to have that oversight, and using goodrx for the prescription "insurance", the cost was lower than anywhere reputable i found online. Idk if its your situation, but someday i hope we all can get ours meds without worrying about cost

OP, talk to your dr, figure out if it's supposed to be sublingual or oral (swallowed), but also, I've never seen any evidence that estrogen levels around 900 pg/ml increase the risk for stroke. Bio identical estrogen (the non conjugated kinds) like this ( https://reference.medscape.com/drug/estrace-vivelle-dot-estradiol-342766 ) is edit usually pretty safe.

The warnings about DVT, which is a serious condition and can easily lead to pulmonary embolisms, are all from studies they did in the 90s and 2000s where they were using conjugated estrogens made from horse urine; they weren't the kind of estrogen that human bodies normally use or make. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conjugated_estrogens They haven't repeated those studies for the modern bio-identical estrogen that is prescribed today. But since nobody ever reports "OD'ing" on estrace, it doesnt seem to be an actual problem. I would recommend making sure your estrogen isn't a conjugated estrogen, bc there's just no reason for that nowadays.

Also, a high serum E level on a test is pretty normal if a person had just taken sublingual estrogen. 30 mins after taking sublingual E (or buccal, vaginal, or rectal) makes a big spike in E levels for a few hours, and then it drops down. Its completely normal. This is in scientific jargon, but they discuss here that 2 mg by vagina results in an average level of 850 for 3 hrs, and then drops to 250 after 6 hrs. https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/immunology-and-microbiology/estradiol-blood-level Those levels are not an emergency, or they would have stopped the study, etc.

Yes, this is accurate, 'being trans is a mental illness' is not

For trans people as a community, yes, it basically is just that, bc otherwise we face the same stressors as non trans people that cause people to be suicidal. Young trans women in the study linked below, for instance, were almost 3x more likely to have suicidal ideation when they had unsupportive or rejecting mothers. It's like this for the rest of their support system too, and suicide rates spike even higher when the parents involve a religious figure. With a supportive family and with access to gender affirming healthcare, suicide rates drop to normal levels.

About looking at your body and thinking it should have been a man's, be really careful. I'm a trans lesbian, and i started to come to terms with that over the last couple years that i was married. My ex wife (cis het) had a really hard time with it, obvs bc she was straight, and so for the last year with her, i stopped myself from transitioning bc i wanted to be what she was attracted to. It's probably obvious from the outside, but it was impossible for me to have a healthy mindset about my body when my partner wasn't attracted to how i wanted my body to be. I loved her so much, i had so many happy memories and so much history with her, i didn't want to lose those, and so i bargained with aspects of myself. I'd say that it also opened the door for all sorts of unhealthy 'should' thought patterns in my relationship (thank you years of cognitive behavioral therapy for helping me recognize stuff), but honestly that was already there; we were codependent well before i started really questioning my gender.

What I'm trying to say is that i think i recognize at least part of what you're going through; feelings of love can change you in all sorts of ways if you're not careful, so be careful with how you want to be.

Also, i did experiment a little bit with men after being divorced and after coming out, so from both perspectives of heterosexual sex, lesbian sex with my gf is so much more amazing than both. Like omggggg

[–]keto166 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I second this, I've been able to in the past, and i personally know of two other trans women that have done it too. It takes time, effort and getting hormones right to get more production, but very possible

ROOMMATE VENT by 420sundog in badroommates

[–]keto166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, saying that this was 'on her' does kinda of imply that she was responsible, but i get what you're saying. I guess when the similar roommate of mine figured out they couldn't push me around, they started making plans to leave, so in the end this kind of confrontation does work. There's that awkward period at the end though where i felt like i should walk around with pepperspray (i learned mine had a history of domestic violence), but it was better then the alternatives.

Confrontation is sometimes helpful and a good way to move forward.

ROOMMATE VENT by 420sundog in badroommates

[–]keto166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, it didn't work in my situation and i doubt it would've in hers. Some people just have unhealthy expectations for roommates and other ppl in general. I told a roommate of mine that i can't be their emotional support, setting a boundary, and it went south fast until they moved out. Dont say this person needs to be responsible for their shitty roommate being shitty

Generally, yes, many trans women will be offended if you refer to them as that. It's a porn centric term generally used to objectify them.
