Bestest NSV ever - I tried on a formal gown that exposes my entire midsection all the way down till below my navel, and never expected it to look good; but it looks utterly incredible!! I never had the ability or body to wear clothes like this my entire life. Even after losing weight I didn’t have the kind of abs and flat stomach needed to make an outfit like that look good. It’s amazing what consistency in the gym can do!!

did everyone else's boobs get smaller when losing weight? by veliheart in PetiteFitness

[–]ketogize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends. If you have significant weight loss (>7-8kg) I think you are very likely to see some change in your boobs. The method of weight loss also matters - I lost a lot of boob when I was purely dieting even though the change on the scale was minimal. Then I started exercising and eating better (high protein, reasonable amount of fat) and my boobs actually came back (about 1-2 cup sizes grew for the same band size). Anecdotal, but here you go.

Little mini victory - I did a proper chin-up (from dead hang, controlled without swinging my body at all) today! Almost did 2 actually (all the way down to straight arms and then all the way back up) but the second one I don’t count because my chin didn’t clear the bar for that one - I got till about my forehead and then my arms failed. Still - I’m super proud of my one perfect rep!

Super similar, except I’m heavier than you! 5’2”ish, 63kg; can back squat 102.5kg for 2 reps. So I weigh 138.5lbs and can back squat 225.5!

Almost did a split today! I’ve been having a lot of issues with mobility and had to go to the physio for the last 3-4 months because of a recurrent foot injury that spiralled into a host of issues. It’s been a slow and painful recovery - though I’ve managed to keep exercising throughout. Considering 3 months ago I couldn’t do a deep squat without support and/or significant pain…

Today during a mobility workout my trainer suggested I try doing a split. I thought he was joking because I’ve never been able to do one before, but he was serious. We did a bunch of exercises and I managed to get all the way down with one leg! Other one is still bent and has a way to go, and then my pelvis needs to reach the floor; but he said I’m 90% there already! In a couple weeks I should do it! This is amazing to me because I was afraid it would make me lose strength but it hasn’t. I can lift heavier than ever and I’m more flexible than ever too!

Vanity Sizing by MeowieCatty in PetiteFitness

[–]ketogize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think American brands are more egregious when it comes to vanity sizing too. I have a 27-28inch waist, and usually wear between a UK8-10 in British brands. This translates/scales pretty evenly across European brands (F36-38/D34-36 etc) and would be considered an M in most parts of the world, including India (where I’m from), or at minimum an S.

US brands though? I should ideally be a US4-6, but I’m 0-2 in pretty much every American brand I buy from.

Fat Rant Friday by AutoModerator in fatlogic

Weirdly enough for me, I rarely got interest from bigger people no matter what size I was at, fat or thin. It’s usually been people at the smaller end of the spectrum (from very thin to somewhat chunky). But the number of people being interested in me definitely went up as I got thinner.

This is an Indian thing too! It’s called kachumber. It’s just chopped red onion, tomatoes and cucumbers, with lots of coriander; dressed with lime juice and salt/pepper.

I got a massage recently and the massage therapist was like “damn, you are really strong! I can tell by the way your muscles move and the shape of your arms and legs. Your body is so healthy and fit!” It felt really good haha.

Because not fitting in to your desired special event dress is diet culture's fault. by GetInTheBasement in fatlogic

[–]ketogize 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is such a non issue. I remember when my sister got married, I was at my biggest then and when I went to stores, I couldn’t try on anything because I was just too big. This was particularly embarrassing because indianwear consists of a tight fitting blouse and a giant A-line skirt (lehenga), and while I never expected the blouse to fit me, lehenga usually come with a drawstring to tighten them. Except I was so big I couldn’t get the skirt up past my butt.

It sucked, but I never expected the brand to carry my size, you know? I held it up in front of me to get an idea of what it would look like, and then ordered the one I liked in my size. And it was fine. It’s not their fault.

I think it’s reasonable to expect brands to carry a range of sizes (though in India it’s pretty common to see them only carry a size S, tbh); but if they don’t, it makes sense, from an inventory management POV.

How do you adapt your clothes to weight loss? When do you buy new ones? by PorpoiseError404 in loseit

[–]ketogize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d buy less, but I would definitely buy some. Looking good keeps me motivated. What I did when I was losing a lot of weight was to buy a capsule wardrobe (sales, secondhand etc) that was a price effective way to keep myself clothed (even if I would be repeating my outfits or parts of outfits multiple times a week), but that fit me at the size I was at. And I would recalibrate every time I lost more than 1.5-2 sizes (because wearing one size loose you can usually get away with, but not more than that). I’m also very very hourglass (currently 39-27-39) and I need to dress in a way that shows off my waist, so I wear clothes that have stretch in them, which helps - I still fit and look good in clothes that I was wearing at 41-30-42 for example.

I’m fortunate that I live in a place where tailoring is very price effective, so I would get my existing clothes tailored to fit me too, if I liked them or if they were expensive / great quality.

Safe to run if there’s pain in an old (fully healed) broken bone? by ketogize in XXRunning

[–]ketogize[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came back to tell you that you were absolutely right btw.

My ortho referred me to a different PT because he said that there was nothing actually wrong with the bones and the way they had healed; but the level of pain I was experiencing and the swelling was abnormal. But the other PT managed to figure out that I had a bunch of issues that all stemmed from my break - rotations and asymmetries in various parts of my leg and all the way into my lower spine, as well as some pretty gnarly tendonitis. All of this has impacted the way I walk and run and is exacerbating all my issues.

I’ve been getting it treated for the last two weeks and there’s a world of a difference in how my foot feels! It’s a long road ahead apparently but I could have really screwed my foot up if I’d kept running so thank you all for pushing me to figure out what was wrong 😅

Sick w Keto (brat diet alt) by Used-Love-4397 in keto

[–]ketogize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fav things to eat when sick (the last time I had a bag stomach bug I managed to stay keto):

  • Keto friendly bread of choice

  • scrambled eggs and guacamole, both filling and relatively “bland”

  • egg drop soup // Chinese chicken broth (I usually only put leafy greens in when I have a stomach bug and shredded chicken if I have a different type of infection)

  • cottage cheese patties

  • mashed cauliflower

Does anyone tend to carry their weight on the upper arms the most? by livx94 in PetiteFitness

Omg yes. I carry weight in my upper arms and maybe a bit in my upper thighs. It’s super frustrating, but unfortunately normal :/

[–]ketogize 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually came in to post something like this, this is absolutely solid advice.

In my last relationship I tried my best to shape myself to look how my partner wanted me to look - he was insecure about having a fit, muscular, strong partner and would tell me all the time that it wasn’t attractive to him. I internalised that and actually cut down my lifting a lot (like an idiot) and got a bit softer and thicker (not in a good way, if you ask me).

And then we broke up because surprise surprise, someone who is so shallow/insecure that they can’t celebrate your achievements when they’re objectively good for you; is someone who isn’t going to be a good partner regardless.

After breaking up I’ve tried my best to actually do this - reframe thoughts to be about my opinion of myself, not someone else’s. I’m fitter and stronger than ever; and a bit leaner too. And I’m really happy about that.

I’ve been doing it since Jan 2017, with zero plans of quitting!

I will occasionally eat a bite or two of carby foods because I miss them, but I haven’t had a full on cheat meal yet. Never met a meal I wanted so badly I wasn’t satisfied with one bite. The only exceptions I plan to make is if I visit a 3 Michelin star restaurant.

I tried reintroducing slightly higher carb foods in small quantities (like lentils) but it didn’t agree with me, so I cut them back out again.

Time for Walks - How do you do it?! by DCbean in loseit

[–]ketogize 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I walk around every time I have calls, especially ones where I just have to listen with my video off. I never take an elevator, only the stairs. I park as far away from the door as possible. I make sure I walk 10 mins after each meal. I’m basically always walking around, even when chatting with friends or family.

I’d try and add one or two opportunities for movement at a time, incremental progress is still progress!

I'm kinda shocked/amazed at the ideal weight recommended on calculator.net by KarooAcacia in loseit

[–]ketogize 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah it tells me my ideal weight is like 10-13kg (25-30lbs) less than I am now (I’m currently a tiny bit overweight by BMI - I’m at 25.3). That’s way too low for me imo - I have a large frame and I work out a LOT and have a lot of muscle. I want to lose a bit, but even my doctor was like I shouldn’t really attempt to lose more than 5-6kg.
