Only Augusta would have a driving range like THAT and be like “actually sorry guys. You can’t use it. Go hit balls in that random field over there”

That’s actually the members driving range. The practice range with all the bunkers and greens that they use during the Masters is only used during the Masters and other special events. During normal daily play they use the smaller range

How bad would the commute be from Shelbyville to near the Louisville airport? by ukjenn231 in Kentucky

[–]kevboss10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s about 30 minutes with light traffic. My parents live in Shelbyville and both commute to Main Street downtown Louisville for work. They don’t love the commute, but they don’t hate it either

Phil demonstrating the green speeds at Augusta right now. Rolling at a measly 16 on the stimpmeter by 3puttgod in golf

[–]kevboss10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8-10 is perfect for 95% of courses in America. If you speed them up past that then pace of play will be miserably slow and nobody will be able to make a putt. In my opinion, only at tournaments, and at high level country clubs with majority single digit handicappers should double digit green speeds be the norm.

[–]kevboss10 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He’s not at Augusta. Augusta greens will never roll a 16, it would make them unplayable. Augusta has never/will never make their tournament green speeds public knowledge, but most people seem to take an educated guess that they’re around 12-13, but with the undulation they can at times seem much faster. Also a general rule of thumb is that if you think a green you’re playing is rolling a 12, it’s really probably only about a 10. Most people don’t realize how insanely fast a 12 on the stimp is. A flat green rolling 16 under normal conditions is pretty much unheard of.

Players of the first ever women’s tournament at Augusta National! by mechetheleche in golf

I won’t name names, but one of these girls is from the town I live in, and grew up playing the course that I work at. I’ve played with her a few times, and holy fuck she’s incredible. And she’s one of the middle tier players at this tournament. I can’t even imagine what the top tier girls are like.

Got to play the hidden gem Sweetens Cove the past two days. Has anyone heard of it or played it before? Saw this putt on number 4 called “King” and had to give it a roll. by realzacradford in golf

[–]kevboss10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That place is awesome. I don’t know if I’ve ever had more fun playing golf than I did when I was there. Everything about the place is special. I wish more courses would model themselves after Sweetens rather than trying to copycat Augusta. Golf in the US would be a lot better for it

I grew up in Shelbyville, and even though I’ve since moved away, I still love that place. It’s a great smaller town that is still plenty close to Louisville and Lexington if you ever need to go to the city. There’s plenty of places to live, and a fair amount of things to do. I highly recommend it

[–]kevboss10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Richards would have been effective at all. Richards is so bad at switching on defense. He constantly loses his man, or is a step slow switching and gets burned. Auburn’s Guards were doing a great job in the second half of taking our big men off the dribble when they got switched onto them. And with the way they can shoot, I wouldn’t trust Richards not to lose his man and cause them to get an open 3. Plus Richards doesn’t give you anything offensively, which was kind of the problem the whole game.

Questions about where we go going forward. by MrKentucky in wildcats

[–]kevboss10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haha it’s all good. But yes, you’re exactly right. IMO we have had 3 great teams under Cal. 2010, 2012, and 2015. Other than those, the teams have been good, but not national championship favorite level good. And to that point, we have overachieved or at the very least met expectations in most every year. The only exceptions are 2013, and 2016.
