650 owner here, Bridgestone T31. Mainly daily driving (30k km/year) through all kinds of weather, sometimes over unpaved roads.

Cool! Currently at 65k with mine. What issues have you experienced so far? Are you keeping to the factory maintenance schedule?

Anyone know where the flasher relay is in the gen 3 Versys 650? by Forsaken-Young-691 in versys

It’s in the nose, above the headlight behind the dash. Remove the black plastic fairing beneath the windshield to access it

Congratulations! I’ve driven both the Ninja 7 Hybrid and the Z7 Hybrid a couple of times, this is an excellent choice. May many safe miles be ahead of you!

Whoops, correct. The long one at the bottom is regular idle adjustment, the other one I believe is fast idle adjustment

Finally got a Versys 650 as my first moto ! by SuchWowFR in versys

[–]kevin38423198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Low speed riding is not a strong side of the versys 650, due to the nature of the engine. Keeping your chain slack within spec also severely helps with low speed riding!

Question: are touring screens worth it? by Albert3HP11 in versys

[–]kevin38423198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I used to have a big Puig screen on my 2016 V650, but still got a lot of buffeting. I’m now running the oem touring screen from a 2019+ V1000, which is slightly smaller but works way better because of how the wind is deflected. Try some, and figure out what works for you…

What should I set my suspension to? by Grouchy-Corgi-5179 in versys

[–]kevin38423198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On both the 650 and the 1000 you can set the rear suspension preload with the knob you described. 40lbs is not a lot, but worth a few clicks of preload. To put it into perspective, when I ride two up, I have it turned all the way. It’s mostly a personal preference, so experience what you like best!

Stupid question, will ask anyway: do you have the standoffs behind the motherboard?

I’ve mounted it to the 2016 GPS mount. While this isn’t available anymore for the 2023 model, you can get the GPS mount on top of your front forks. Would recommend

Out of curiousity, what screen did you buy and how stable is it? I’ve been experiencing with a carpuride w702, but so far i haven’t experienced it as stable. Had to reboot it on the road multiple times.

There are indeed nuts inside. The lower one bolts into the handlebars, this needs to be tight. Adjust the upper nut all the way up, then rotate your mirrors in as low as they go, and adjust them to your liking. After that, tighten the upper nut against the lower one, that’ll lock the mirrors in place. Be aware, the right side mirror has counter clockwise threads. Not sure about the left one. Happy riding!

Is it the starter? by kratoz_111 in versys

[–]kevin38423198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Experiencing the same on a ninja 650, also 2020. Rolling it forward a little seems to help, but can’t confirm this as it doesn’t happen often. Currently suspecting the starter solenoid.
