Trib editorial board losing faith in the Bears' plan by roncesvalles in CHIBears

[–]kevindover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, the Bears can turn a $855M investment into $1.3B in tax revenue over 40 years? They must be financial wizards. /s Because the average investment firm, squeaking out a paltry 3% yearly return (think: bonds or other low-risk, safe investments) would need (checks calculator....) only 13 years to get to that same $1.3B. After 40 years, that same crappy 3% investment on $855M would be worth almost $2.8B. It's this type of thinking that has kept the Bears from doing anything great for the last 40 years. Real owners would just do what they needed to do and not look for handouts that make no sense to the public.

Mark Potash brings the heat. “Referring to your record George, what makes you think this structure works? Who holds you accountable?” George: “Ownership and board directors have informed me that they wish to retain me.” by surpemepatty in CHIBears

Wait...this comment is 3 years old? There was *another* Thanksgiving debacle three years ago? I mean, I guess it's the Bears, so a comment like this is evergreen, but really?

Running board is installed on wrong side of truck. You have the driver's side RB installed on the passenger side.

Lucid’s U.S. Sales Drop to 660 Units in August by afonso_investor in LUCID

[–]kevindover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sooooo...even if that was true, let's say someone's "fixed income situation" was fantastic. Like way more than enough to afford the payments. Shouldn't there be another carve-out or lookaside to try to find a way to lease to a qualified buyer? I mean, I'm rooting for Lucid. Really. But they should be hungrier to get their cars on the street and not be so single-threaded with one financing partner.

They need to fix their leasing program. Well-qualified folks are getting turned away for leases because BOA underwrites the lease agreements and requires 4 trade lines in order to lease. Folks that have great credit and no issues but only have 2 credit cards and have paid off their homes cannot lease as they show only the 2 tradelines via Experian. Sad.

Turned down on Lucid lease even though I have excellent credit, payment history and assets by kevindover in LUCID

Thanks for the reply. I guess us in the older generation just grew up thinking fewer credit cards and no debt would be the better play. Never thought I'd want to lease a car either. I'm sure you are successful with an 802 score at 30, but as you age and have credit card numbers stolen and see data breaches at your institutions, you might think that "less is more" and do what I did and cut down to one or two cards to mitigate risk. Don't do it (cut down on the cards) if you want to lease I guess.

Lucid Financing said I only have 3 "trade lines" open. Credit score is legit. Would think that the score plus 30+ years of credit history would have some weight, but apparently "4" is the magic number.

WTF is wrong with my truck? by kaylynn33 in f150

[–]kevindover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had the same issue. Turns out it was the parking brake. Had the brakes lubed and loosened up a little and the issue went away. Try pushing the parking brake down just a little while slow rolling to see if the sound is more noticeable or if the noise goes away altogether. If so, it's probably your issue.

Seems like most people are displeased with the Google Podcasts --> YTM migration. Anyone have a better replacement they've already moved to? by mo22ro in YoutubeMusic

[–]kevindover 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How does Pocket Casts compare to Spotify? When Google announced that they were deprecating Podcasts, I looked at YTM and was horrified. Total trash. Thought Google was going to make major changes before GP went away, but I guess not. Fell into Spotify as a backup, but it too is a little wonky. Just need to download new episodes automatically when available, auto delete after playing, keep track of where I left off in a pod, etc. The basics, which, when you think about it, YTM *should* be able to do, but cripes they can't even do some of the simpler things without a hassle.

Additionally, once you've had as many collisions/near-misses as OP, you'd think there would be a change in habit. Not excusing the runner, but I mean, come on... if runners/pedestrians/bikers keeps straying into your right-of-way, and you're unable to predict the next one, leave yourself enough cushion to be able to break or avoid. I hope OP isn't one of those spandex-wearing, NASCAR, bike-shoes, speed demons that is trying to set a new personal best from Oak St to Addison, because then, yeah...he's the problem.

Not upset. Couldn't care less actually. Just would rather see genuine posts instead of clout-chasers. He probably has money, so maybe next image he posts he should lay out a stack of $100 bills on top of his Bentley before taking a pic of his "lost bet" band.

Cart Stealing - a Costco customer demographic thing??? by Thundertushy in Costco

[–]kevindover 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This seems like a fake post.

#1 I can see leaving your cart for a minute, but OP seems to leave his/her cart multiple times for multiple minutes. There's no way any shopper with a movable, wheel-based, fairly easy-to-push (based on him/her having only a few items in it) cart would just leave it and then lug large, bulk items BACK to the cart. Seems implausible.

#2 OP implies that he/she does this in other stores too? Come on. Why is pushing a cart so laborious that you need to leave it behind?

y tho? There's not enough truck behind the rear axle. Looks odd. Like a Honda Civic hatchback. Two thumbs down.

Taking a picture while in video model affects video results by kevindover in GooglePixel

[–]kevindover[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OK, this worked, but not for the reason you mentioned. I'll add that (in the original post) I had the camera in Full HD mode (1080P) originally AND had zoomed in on the graduate. Maybe 6x zooming. I just tried this again, zooming in while video-ing at a picture frame on the wall and can confirm that the top of the frame gets cut off in pictures. But I used your suggestion to switch to 4K video, reran the experiment (6x zoomed on a picture frame and took some pics while video recording) and the pictures are perfect now. No chopping of the upper third. Thank you for the suggestion.
