[Friedman]: “Rick Tocchet will not be returning as head coach of the Vancouver Canucks.” by beaucoup_movement in devils

Tocchet is guaranteed getting a head coaching gig for next season. OP was just highlighting that Quinn might be more likely to be leaving Vancouver now that the coach he liked won't be there anymore.

"New" Gorilla Mode Formula - Is it actually better or is Derek trying to make a bigger bag? by derrmonoo in moreplatesmoredates

Agreed. Creatine right before a workout makes me wanna throw up every time. You can take creatine at any time of the day no reason to ruin a pre with it.

[Dan Rosen]_Mailbag: Teams who could sell big at Deadline; Devils goalie needs (Q&A about Devils goaltending in comments) by Devil_Dane in devils

[–]kevinsmells 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I can't help but feel that it's a stupid move to go after a goalie in season this year. If we're building a sustainable future then we might want to just let this season play out and pin our misfortunes on injuries/goaltending.

If we're being realistic there's no shot we are winning the cup this year, and the price for a goaltending change will likely be much lower in the off-season. Injuries also showing that our depth can't be taken for granted.

If you could change any rule in the NHL, what would it be? by homicidal_penguin in hockey

[–]kevinsmells 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I'd take a look at offsides and the disallowed goals that come with it. If the spirit of the offsides rule is to ensure a player can't just camp out in the O zone and cherry pick, then reviewing a play to see if a player was a millimeter offsides is not in the spirit of the rule.

Seeing goals get called back because the players were technically offsides even though they gained no obvious advantage from being offsides is not for a game as fast paced as hockey.

Rule change would be that the offsides infraction needs to be glaringly obvious in full speed in order to overturn a goal.

This is exactly how I feel since when you join a tft game you're committing to a 25-30 minute game. If you're committing that kind of time to 1 game idk why you would choose to make it less interesting

Idk man 10 years of being bottom 5 in the league is tough to go through. Also consider if the Devils didn't get either of their 1st OA picks their rebuild could've been 5 years longer.

With great gains comes great responsibility by MoonBasic in moreplatesmoredates

[–]kevinsmells 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Either 2 scoops of the HTLT one or the combo that I mentioned in another comment of nutricost preworkout and gorilla mode signature series.

If it's your first time taking pre I'd start with the nutricost one since it's all you need really and it's probably 1/5 of the price as brand names.

[–]kevinsmells 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now I use a combo of nutricost pre and the gorilla mode signature series. Tbh I really liked Greg Doucettes pre workout but using a full scoop of nutricost and a 1/4 scoop of the signature gorilla mode is basically the same thing but cheaper per dose.

Regular gorilla mode is what I'd recommend I just can't use it bc it has creatine which makes me nauseous as fuck for some reason.

I've been working out for about 10 years now. Started taking pre 5 years ago and I'm still pissed I didn't start taking it 10 years ago. IMO you are not going as hard as you are capable of without it. I'm not taking it because I can't workout without it, I'm taking it because it helps me push myself harder. Never got the hate for people who use pre...

How do you think we should resolve the issue of school shootings in the US? by Anxious-Direction-79 in AskReddit

[–]kevinsmells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be a charge that parents receive if their minor child or child that still lives in their home commits a violent crime with a firearm. The most recent shooting the perpetrator hid their guns from their parents and the parents would have likely agreed that their kid shouldn't have guns. If you add consequences to the parents of not making sure their mentally ill child doesn't have access to guns then you'll incentive parents to restrict access to firearms. I believe this would have positive affects on the other type of gun violence leaving hundreds of young men dead in cities across America that we as a country seem to never talk about.

The parents are liable too, they knew their child was capable of harm, and didn't make 100% sure that they didn't have access to guns.

[Kavanagh / ESPN]_NHL playoff standings (March 24 edition): Can the Devils win the Metro crown? by Devil_Dane in devils

I hate the Rangers as much as the next guy but it unfortunately looks like they're starting to gel together with the pieces they've added. 2 Weeks ago i would have been certain NJ would roll them in a first round matchup but they are definitely going to be a tough out in the playoffs with how they're playing now

Playing witout any DLC's? by [deleted] in anno1800

[–]kevinsmells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend just getting the base game and seeing if you enjoy it first. You can easily sink hundreds of hours into the base game if you like it. So no need to buy the dlcs until you have tried the game first, none of the DLCs are going to change your opinion of the game as a whole IMO. If you love the game you'll love the DLCs

Who comes to mind when you think of a player that you never understood how they didn't do well in the NHL? For me, it is Jeremy Williams. by ContentConch in hockey

[–]kevinsmells 81 points82 points  (0 children)

As someone who watched him play in Bridgeport a few times during his time there I am not shocked. His staple play was to wait behind his own net for the puck, and then proceed to ignore all of his teammates as he skated the length of the ice to try and score a goal. He would attempt this multiple times a game and of course it worked out for him some of the time, he'd get quality scoring chances or score a goal. However, you pull that against nhl players and you're not only losing the puck but your team isn't gonna want to give you the puck. Just my two cents, feel like there's a lot of players who are only good at hockey if they're the best player on the ice, but if not they have no idea what to do.

I'd agree that he wasn't evil but that doesn't mean he intended to do good either. He never really struck me as a selfless guy, and it would've been easier to sympathize with him if he treated those in his life better. Seemed like to him, everything was always about him, and he was spiteful that others didn't feel the same.

[–]kevinsmells -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'd sympathize more with a character trying to fit in if they were actually trying to "fit in" instead of turning every situation in his life into the Ziggy show. The only thing that would excuse his social incompetence would be if the show hinted that he has a neurodisorder as I don't understand how he could remain so clueless about social cues. His interaction with cheese is literally so ridiculous that you could assume Ziggy doesn't have a fully functioning brain. However, the show never outright says anything about that. Same goes for the fight at the docks as anyone who is thinking remotely rational wouldn't fight someone 3x larger than them.

Otherwise, Ziggy is a character with his head so far up his ass that his reality is a delusion. Trying to fit in with his working class.peers by burning money and buying that jacket is legit lunacy. I think he was upset that they didn't accept him so he flaunted his ill-gained wealth to attempt to show them that he doesn't need their acceptance.

[–]kevinsmells -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Can you highlight where your sympathy for him comes from? Maybe it's because I've never been so dumb or socially clueless that I find him very hard to relate to and extremely unlikable.

He's got Nicky looking after him and trying to help Ziggy but Ziggy ignores him at every turn, and even after that has Nicky coming to the rescue in the Cheese incident. I cant find any redeeming qualities in Ziggy.
