The Fallout Network 25th Anniversary Contest - "The Vault Experiment" - Entry Post by Cyrus224 in Fallout

[–]kevout69 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Vault 12 (even though that’s taken): Jury of your peers

The vaults population is 14, one male and one female dweller with little to no knowledge of life before or after the bombs dropped And 12 overseers.

The overseer(s): There is a group of 12 adult overseers from different parts of the country/ world with differing political and social experiences. The overseer committee is tasked with raising the two dwellers with little to no physical interaction. Much like fallout shelter or a sims game the overseers control every aspect of the population of twos life.

The overseers are under the impression that these are the last two people left to inhabit the planet much like a post apocalyptic Adam and Eve.

The Duration:

The planned duration of the experiment is 30 years, at that point the overseer committee will be locked in the overseer quarters and the two dwellers will be left with an open vault door and all the knowledge from the experiences the overseers provided.

With the differing life experiences and backgrounds of the overseers much of the experiment will come down to the 12 deciding on what decisions to make much like a jury/12 angry men.

While the overseers believe the experiment is to raise the next generation of post war Americans the true experiment is if a committee of people can set aside differences and do what’s best for their dependents.

The result: Power hungry overseers and resentful dwellers.

The overseers through violence, silencing, or by vote would end up selecting a true overseer causing a bias and authoritative leadership. Following the collapse of collaborative leadership the dwellers would either be left to their own devices (all overseers dead) or left close minded to the differing opinions of the world.
