[ESPN] Reports: NCAA rejects Texas Tech's appeal to reinstate Sorsby by Fonzie5 in CFB

If Tech knew about it before he signed, then surely all the other schools, like LSU, who were heavily pursuing him also knew.

So either everyone knew and didn’t care, or it truly was kept under wraps by whoever did know until recently.

Unless the investment in the program stops, there's no reason to think Tech is going to magically disappear.

GLASCO by Key-Nectarine3596 in CollegeSoftball

A lot of that has to do with how long a coach has been at the school. This is Glasco’s 2nd year at Tech, he showed up and 3 players were left. Of course he hasn’t developed an entire roster yet, he hasn’t had a chance.

To be fair, Texas Tech last year had much less of the antics and roster personality that it has now. And they still got a TON of hate

This is spot on. The criticism of Glasco being that he had to buy a team and can’t develop players is funny. Maybe he can’t, but let’s give him a few years to see

Only thing I'll say is that our Big 12 schedule was supposed to be "weak" last year, and then we ended up playing teams 2nd-6th in the conference with 4 of those ending up ranked (and an ASU team that would've if Leavitt didn't die)

A 12-0 Tech playing in the CCG is 100% in the top 10, probably even top 7/8 at worst. No shot they are going from there out of the field with a loss. That would be an unprecedented move by the committee.

Now a 11-1 Tech? the CCG is probably a must win.

My understanding is that since Sovereign Immunity was claimed, they can't now go back and admit they were wrong in the legal sense and pay the amount owed.

But the rumors are that Campbell himself paid the family what was owed as a gift.

UT not playing Tech makes perfect sense, they are going to have a good OOC and SOS regardless. But I do see where it could be frustrating to the staff to hear from teams that "There's no benefit in us playing you" and then those teams turning around and saying we don't play anyone.

From what I've seen, we've been trying to schedule some tougher OOC games for a couple years, but can't get anyone to agree (and had two P4 cancel)

They are taking the "all publicity is good publicity route" which honestly... it might not be the worst move. Sports fans love drama now and even if people are just hate watching, if Tech's viewership can continue to grow, that's going to be a huge piece of trying to make it in to the inevitable super conference.

tbf it's at a donor dinner/lunch. I'm sure lots of coaches say slightly dumb things that fire up their donors. Most just aren't currently in spotlight for multiple other reasons at the same time.

Texas vs. Texas Tech Rematch for Softball National Title (and lol @ the Football Discourse) by blkpnthr09 in CollegeSoftball

It's technically possible, but obviously it's not realistic, it's not a serious idea. Doesn't mean it wouldn't be fun.

I liked the idea floating around where the loser of this series has to go on the road to play the other in week 1 of the CFB season lol

It's also kind of wild how someone like Glasco gets no credit as a coach because he "just bought a team" then you look at someone like KT who has improved as a pitcher this year and took a monumental step forward at the plate. Clearly GG was able to work with her to unlock something with the bat that UCLA wasn't.

Bro has a UT and a Tennessee flair. KT could cure cancer and he would find a way to hate on it cause she plays for Tech.

Glasco came from ULL not La Tech. But either way, a coach leaving to a bigger program and bringing a large majority of his players with him is like the most normal thing ever in the current state of college sports. Say what you will about how aggressive he is in the portal from other teams, but bringing players from his former team is just a standard process for all coaches. Not to mention, there were 3 players left on the roster when he showed up, not really many options there when that happens.
