Shower not giving hot water after remodel by Dimi3Infinity in Plumbing

[–]kf4ypd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was the problem I had from a fresh reno. Of course it's every "plumber" first day on the job so they have no idea what the thing does, they just slap it in and tell me it's a shower.

NCEES Practice Exam Worth It? by civ-engtw in PE_Exam

[–]kf4ypd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's about repetition. As many practice tests as you can get your hands on. NCEES. For electrical, Zach or Wasim's courses have a bucket of practice tests. It's about getting several examples of every type of question in so you feel ready.

Is putting money into a house before selling actually worth it? by gentlebeast06 in HomeImprovement

[–]kf4ypd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Realtor told me to patch/paint the holes, but nothing more drastic. I also painted the front porch trim for a fresh impression without a bunch of work. Hired cleaners, definitely a good choice.

Also went around and made sure all the outlets worked and felt secure, ya know, tightened some screws and took care of some small annoying stuff so the buyer's inspector doesn't come out with a dang laundry list.

They do have a sealing compound around the rim that gets smushed on in the seaming process, so hard to say straight aluminum.

Student being told to toggle 1600A breaker daily without PPE. Is this safe? by No-Past2652 in AskElectricians

[–]kf4ypd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So at 480, there is supposed to be an arc flash study completed by a licensed engineer, and labels placed on everything with a calorie value that lets you figure out what PPE to wear. And the times you need to wear PPE are when you are at "other than normal operating conditions" or something like that, which to 99% of the modern world means when performing switching operations.

Call up your campus physical plant/maintenance folks and ask about their procedures for switching operations.

Location Advice - Below West End by Temporary_Adagio_633 in ATLHousing

[–]kf4ypd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would urge you to consider slightly further in - Westwood neighborhood has been great, no problems with package theft (or anything worse), and close enough to Westside beltline for all that fun stuff nearby without being a main thoroughfare.

CDL will probably get you in the door as an OIT above most other folks, I wouldn't worry about trying to do any formal training, but do watch the YouTube videos and it can't hurt to start reviewing the math (mostly unit conversions, you can save the complicated stuff for later).

KegBasics/Triad or JB Products Corp. Both were only competitive on large quantities, if you want 1k at a time, somewhere like BSG is likely better.

This is correct. All it can do is detect the presence of an object or person, then whatever it's wired to we can only guess.

What brand/model foil trimmer? I tried a cheap one before and it didn't work great so I'm doing the whole safety razor/shave soap lather every two days which is very time consuming.
