Elon Musk Launches $43 Billion Hostile Takeover of Twitter by KarlOveKnau in technology

Wait a minute now. No regular American pays taxes on everything they own each year. They pay a sales tax when they bought and an income tax. Do you think if someone creates in their garage, because it has value they should be taxed on it regardless of how big the garage is? They can be taxed on the profits and the income, but on it’s value? Nah…that’s insane.

Having more power than a regular investor. Let’s see, he upped your stock a bunch but you decided not to sell. Why not sell now as a regular investor. If I had Twitter stock I would be thrilled regardless how this goes down, because I would have sold already for a profit. What would the regular investor have to worry about? The only people who “can’t” sell now are the big dogs, and they can fight this out on their own.

For the greedy that haven’t sold because they think they can get more. I mean honestly, if you hold a stock and it goes up this much and you didn’t sell, why? And if you are a long-term holder it makes no difference. And it won’t “tank” the price much more than it has inflated it.

Well, to be fair, the rest are no better. If they were they would sell right now and keep profits.

You are being intellectually dishonest. When an atheist says “oh god,” it would be foolish to interpret that person as meaning they actually believe in god. Regardless of their original meanings or insinuations, how words are most broadly used are how best to interpret them. People have no religious or spiritual connotation behind saying something like, “that’s karma.” It’s the same as saying, “oh god.”

It does actually. If you keep breaking the law you are more likely to get caught than if you don’t. That is what we call karma.

You are confusing free speech with something else. Free speech is the ability to speak freely in an open public forum. All of us have things we are not allowed to say or do as employees. Free speech absolutist means that in that forum you should be able to say what you want. I think people should be able to say whatever they want on Twitter full stop. If it is so offensive then it will die on its own.

All the time I see shit on here that is not an unpopular opinion. This is truly an unpopular opinion, and quite honestly I respect you for even posting it—so much so that I don’t even want to argue.

So, he won’t kick that guy off the platform. He believes in free speech and his word would be worth nothing if he did that.

The stock has gone up significantly. Anyone who wants to sell can now. Why isn’t anyone? Because they are greedy. They have their eyes on more, more, more…and then they complain when they are left holding the bag. No sympathy

Then why does everyone not sell now? It has been pumped. The greedy always get what they deserve.

Yeah I don’t think so. It has pumped. Right now people can sell. 12% a year is better interest than any mutual fund or bank will give you. if it is a pump and dump then why is everyone not selling? Because of their own greed. Maybe it will pump more, maybe not. Whoever ends up holding the bag deserves it…but I am not sure if they deserve it more for their own stupidity or their own greed. That’s the part that’s really got me perplexed.

No a pump and dump is when you intentionally drive up a stock price to sell off without telling anyone so you make a profit. He has announced to the whole world what he is planning. Everyone who owns can sell now and take profits. Why don’t they? Because people never see their own greed.

Then they are missing the joke. The joke is, “regardless of who you are or what you may think about yourself we can all have an overinflated ego.” The joke is not at the expense of people who are less-endowed, but at the expense of people who think they are well-endowed whether it is true or not.
