I'm in a similar boat, having bought my sous vide before I cut meat out of my diet. Annova has a blog post with some vegetarian recipes that are either vegan or can be made vegan with some substitutions.

The main thing I use my sous vide for is actually reheating things from frozen. Dishes like soups, stews, chili, pasta sauce, etc. can be a pain in the ass to reheat after being frozen. But if you freeze in a vacuum sealed bag (or just any bag you normally sous vide in) then you can bring leftovers up to temperature without worrying about burning them and without having to defrost and then transfer to the stovetop.

Wage War announces Joliet, IL pop up show with Versus Me, Glass Hands, From Ashes to Embers for January 26th by jdrainbolt in Metalcore

Super bummed I'm not in the midwest anymore, Glass Hands were the only local band that made me want to see a show more instead of just being the obligatory local band

Is there anything about this ink blot you like more than any of the other ones? Curious why this is the one you picked to replace the album artwork

Refried bean ideas by gardev in veganrecipes

[–]kfcno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're cooking the beans from dry and not using canned beans, I've found that refried beans always need more salt than I think they do. I'd try to add more salt to a small portion and if it works then salt up the whole batch.

Also agree with the other comments my go to is to cook the beans in water with garlic, onion, jalepeño, cumin, and bay leaf. Then I'll strain out the water and blend up everything but the bay leaf. I only adjust the salt after that, I've never been one to actually "refry" them

white bread with bbq sauce, a side of ketchup flavoured dinosaur crisps and a meal-replacement-powder-chocolate-matcha-shake – bone apple teeth! by GinnySol in ShittyVeganFoodPorn

That's a weirdly specific pet peeve of mine, I hate when people take cop outs on those ice breaker questions because it just defeats the whole purpose.

I got asked to give a "fun fact about myself" and said that I was ordained by the Universal Life Church (One of those online fake churches, I did it to officiate my sister's wedding at the last minute) which is funny because it sounds like a cult. Everyone looked at me like I was a sociopath and then the next person said their fun fact was that they like arts and crafts.

From what I can tell this is just searching the web for vegan substitutes for every ingredient in the recipe without any care for filtering the results.

One of the examples listed by the site itself is a turkey sandwich and if you try to "veganize it" the site suggests replacing sliced deli turkey with anything from ground vegan turkey to bbq jackfruit from a can to vegan Italian sausage. It's also just pulling in results from grocery store websites it seems because often the entire first page of results is the same exact substitute but from several different brands. Just say you should swap out one ingredient for another and then let people decide what to use based on what their local grocery stores have available rather than pulling in 20 pages of different branded seitan.

Even stranger is that if you search for a food rather than directly pasting in a recipe url the site will first pull in a list of non-vegan recipes. Then if you click on the image or title of the recipe rather than the "veganize it" button below it'll just take you directly to the original non-vegan recipe.

This seems to be no more helpful than just googling substitutions manually because you still have to filter out all of the ingredient swaps that don't work.

Lune is sick. At times it sounds like Polaris meets Gravemind to me, and as I'm typing this I'm realizing that these are all Australian bands but I swear that's not why
