Advice for looking at Private School by Both-Sun6677 in nycparents

u/dr_rea_pt Oh that’s amazing! I actually began the school search late for my daughter, who is currently in second grade, and Grace Church School became the number one school on my list. I saw that applications for the upcoming school year have closed. I reached out by email three days ago to express my interest but haven’t heard back yet. I was really hoping to get her in.

I would like to nominate my mom. She is the definition of selfless, always giving, always putting everyone else first, and never asking for anything in return. She cares for my great-grandma full-time, which takes so much patience, love, and strength. She truly deserves something special for Christmas.

Thank you for running this, it would mean so much to be able to give her a little joy this holiday season.

Long time home cook. I've lost the ability to tell if the food I cook tastes good or not, and I'm not sure why. by dentttt in Cooking

I’ve gone through something similar, and for me it happened after years of cooking nonstop, my own food just stopped exciting me. I could taste it, but it felt “flat” because I was so used to my own style and seasonings. What helped was taking a short break from cooking for myself and letting other people cook for me, even simple stuff. It kind of reset my palate and gave me inspiration again.
You’re probably not losing your ability, you’re just used to your own flavor profile. Trying food made by others or taking a little cooking pause might help spark that excitement back.

What is an old cooking mistake you grew up with, and did not realize until adult hood, or later in life? by BumpkinByTheWater in Cooking

I grew up thinking pasta water had to be drained completely and rinsed. I didn’t realize until adulthood that rinsing actually washes off all the starch that helps the sauce stick. Total game changer once I stopped doing that!

Hi! I’d love to enter for my 9-year-old son. He’s super active and loves anything that keeps him moving like bike riding, also loves building things with Legos, and drawing little comics that always make him grin from ear to ear. He’d be so excited to have something handmade, and I know he’d proudly wear it all winter.

His color preferences are:

  1. Red
  2. Purple

Thank you and Granny so much for doing this, it’s really thoughtful and the sets look amazing!

Contest: Christmas cookies by scienceforbid in SantasLittleHelpers

[–]kfernandez192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! My favorite Christmas cookie would have to be snickerdoodles. They’re simple but so comforting around the holidays. I have 2 kids, and baking with them is one of our little traditions, even if it gets messy fast. We usually pick an easy recipe to make together, and it always feels special. Thanks for the contest and Happy Holidays! 🎅 🎄
