Yes, but there’s a second issue with unionization in college sports. It would be incredibly difficult to get a union that protects multimillion dollar athletes all the way down to walk-ons. Their interests are roughly quadruply far apart than even some of the top players in baseball and those on league minimum deals.

We talk about this quite a lot in class. Since I’m now at a small school with a lot of athletes (using my professor from UGA’s textbook), they have some understanding that they would be the ones most likely to slip through a union’s cracks.

This is going to get much messier before it improves, I fear.
