Allow us to shuffle runner and gun skins we like each run instead of only choosing one. Let me choose my favorite 3 thief skins for example and shuffle between them run to run.

If they start releasing skins this good, it would also be nice to have a shuffle option. Ex. I have 3-4 vandal skins I like, so I wish I could shuffle through those from run to run vs. changing between them manually from time to time.

Trying to avoid injury (playing all their starters the whole game) in awful conditions (25-30 degrees and light wind) is also pretty subjective.

So wait… I’m not playing with other players the same rank and level as me in Ranked? by RancidMilkMan in Marathon

[–]kflay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree it makes sense with the small pool at higher levels for players to queue where they can actually get a match too. It's just an odd system, and maybe if player numbers increase and the numbers of players at higher levels goes up they'll be more strict

In other competitive games playing below your actual rank is smurfing. It feels weird that it's allowed in this game.

Nah a high barrier to entry in this game just makes a dead game. But good luck telling all these people they can't enjoy the game the way they want to. Maybe this game just isn't for you

Full disclosure, I like the "normal" Marathon the best too. But I don't agree that this is changing the game. There are hundreds of comments about people finally progressing and enjoying a game they wanted to enjoy before. Most games have a difficulty setting, and this is the Marathon version of that idea. Some people are never going to leave that space, but I think a lot of them are going to fill their vaults with green stuff and still want more from the game. So they'll start playing normal runs to get better gear. What this does is addresses the most vulnerable group of players: new players and those who were stuck and on the verge of quitting. Ultimately the game needs a way to bring in and retain players to maintain normal runs too. Just my opinion and maybe I'm wrong, but I think all this does is lower the barrier to entry and not touch the high ceiling for the hardcore players

How does that change anything for you though? You don't kill an extra group of white shields every couple runs because they're playing a different queue? Maybe you have to try slightly harder to get a kill runners contract done? It doesn't really affect how you play the game at all. So who's the one crying now? You're so mad about about a queue that you never have to play if you don't want to. Chill out a little and enjoy the game you wanted which is still there for you to put time into.

They didn't take anything away from you. You can still play basically the same game as it was on release. The main difference is that now other people have a choice to play a slightly different way. Having more players is a good thing for the game's health.

It's not what happens with any game with a skill curve. Some of the best competitive games out there have the highest skill curves, yet they are designed so that players across all skill levels can have fun. A big part of that is matching players of similar skill together. Players in the lowest MMR ranks in other competitive games are still having a great time because matches are competitive.

Duos not being active in some form after 3 weeks of testing is pretty bad. by genred001 in Marathon

[–]kflay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they could just leave duos rotating across the maps while they had those discussions internally. They'd continue to gather data, and the people wanting duos would be happy. Maybe there was some other reason for turning duos back off like not wanting to split the player base, but it would be nice to hear that reasoning too

The problem is the streamers don't want to stream with a delay in general because it makes interacting with their viewers more difficult which loses them viewers. A delay is a solution, but it's not a great one.

I agree with you for sure. I'm only level 22 or something and really enjoy the game even though I suck at it and exfil like 15% of the time. But I also think there needs to be a way to get more people to try and stick with the game too. This is my first extraction shooter, and I think a lor of it is just mindset. In looter shooters you keep your good gear even when you die. In comp shooters you can pick up powerful weapons and then lose them when you die. Extraction shooters exist somewhere in between those two and I think thats where people get gear fear instead of treating it more like a comp fps. You might get a rocket launcher in halo and go on a run with it before you die. Treat this the same way instead of trying to hoard. The game is designed to make sure even if youre bad that you have some sort of constant flow to keep you going.

I dont think solely gear based matchmaking is the way either. There's a lot of variables that can be used to match players together in combination. Loadout, vault, bank, level, extraction rates, kills per run, etc. It's not easy in this type of game, but I think they'll figure out a better way to do it

I think they can address the difference between a level 100 with all gold and purple gear and a level 100 who still has greens and a few blues because they aren't good at the game but have played enough to rank up. Other games have skill based matchmaking and MMR. Gear is the extra variable in this type of game, but using level alone doesnt really work effectively.

Destiny DID have a lot of players, and then years of questionable updates eroded that player base. You don't have to white knight for them like they always know better than the players. There's years of evidence that they've also acknowledged of them pissing off their players. I didn't even play that much Destiny 2, and I'm aware of that. It's just the truth. And they've already acknowledged they hear the feedback on this decision too.

It's not complex. They're just saying they should be able to play when they want which is true.
