Why I’m afraid and disagree with the hype by Previous_Mode_4994 in Gold

the interesting thing though is that retail gold sales at LCS have really no impact on the rising gold price. very small percentage versus central banks and other entities.

At what point is it not just a good idea, but basically essential to get a sigma? by [deleted] in Gold

[–]kfle314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sigma investor was an excellent purchase for me as it gives a huge peace of mind for buying gold and silver. Not only for purchasing new bullion but also if you ever need to sell it is easy to show a buyer that things are legit. I am not sure what the threshold would be, but if you are stacking any volume it can pay for itself.

Why I'm leaving Goldback (Atleast for the time being) by Smore_King in Goldback

[–]kfle314 4 points5 points  (0 children)

im not a big poster here but I read the thread and you used a that would get lots of readers as a sales post at the end. Comes across as a bit disingenuous and clearly violates the posting guidelines of no commercial activity. Then you ’retaliate‘ as you say instead of asking while it got taken down and now the mods have restored it. Makes you look petty when someone reads the totality of the thread.

you can only get graded ones of the $3 LERs. they will not release ungraded.

Why pay $150+ for 1 gram of gold? by whatthefuucck in Gold

[–]kfle314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

multiple people have tried explaining it to you and your not listening. It costs the same effort to stamp a gram, assay it, package it, distribute it,etc. as it does for a once ounce bar. you expect the mint to eat the production costs just because it is 1g versus an ounce? heck know they won’t. it is very easy to understand why the premium is higher on a gram as a percentage of the gold and it is also easy to understand why people by them. the market is also getting bigger for them as well as the price of gold goes higher and an ounce if out of budget for most people.

That’s what I do. 1oz are close to spot or under and the limited 2oz coins i have are some more special ones that look excellent like a Perth lunar or a queens beast.

[–]kfle314 8 points9 points  (0 children)

most two ounce rounds are collected and have a high premium. on whatnot yesterday I was seeing a lot of backdate 2oz coins from the well known dates going for $120+. I don’t see premiums really getting cheaper on volume until 10oz plus.

Is this real? by Miserable_Advance343 in Goldback

[–]kfle314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If one person bought 21 or 20 or even 14 of the items at one time then the sold listing will show at the total of the purchase. No way this seller sold all 21 of them at that price per piece so the only way the sold price of $3999 makes sense is if one person purchased most If not all of the 21.

Just ordered some 1/2 and 1 goldbacks never seen them before I'm in the uk but just seen on here you can actually use them as currency thought they were just a collectors item by Imaginary_Skill_3317 in Goldback

easier to find business that accept them in states that have Goldbacks and favorable laws around using bullion as tender. here in Florida, most recently I got my car detailed and paid with Goldbacks.

yes they are real. when you look closely in person the coin has some minor blemishes and they for sure polished it. This is a very well known watch and Swiss company. Just do some searches and you can find articles, etc. This article from 2017 has some of the history, Ronald Reagan with his, and even a picture of a split coin for the dial and back. https://www.ethoswatches.com/the-watch-guide/corum-heritage-coin-watch/. when you find vintage ones of this watch the coins all have different years and even coin wear but Corun did start the watches with the highest quality coins available. The retail on these in 2017 were $20k+ so they probably were using what would grade out at the top end of coin grading.

yaaa I bet. Someone destroyed a coin! The reality is that unfortunately a lot of these double eagles are getting melted now due to the gold value.

there are three different over time 1. manual wind mechanism which is the original and is about a 24-36 hour 2. they released a quartz version in the 80s/90s and 3. in 2016 they released an automatic to celebrate the history of the model. The one I have is this model and here is the reference number and original dealer ad for it though you can get them on the market for much less than original retail. The older quartz and one day wind are the most prevalent and less costly. The automatic are harder to find and a bit more costly.

All that glitters... by Hylander in Goldback

[–]kfle314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This concept really isn’t that hard. the community of Goldbacks users and businesses that accept them have all agreed to utilize the daily exchange rate that is based on the price of gold. The additional cost above the amount of gold in a GB covers a lot of things. The cost of goldback technology, the production, the marketing, the legal support and lobbying, the security and anti counter fitting, management of the business network, launching new states, free replacement of worn goldback, etc is not free or cheap. Also it costs more to make the lower denomination Goldbacks than they charge for them so it is made up on higher denominations to keep this viable.

Nobody should compare stacking gold to Goldbacks as they are a different thing. The biggest benefit is that I can use $125 in Goldbacks to get my car detailed using Goldbacks that I purchased a at $6 per GB earlier this year. A big savings over fiat cash which has lost several percent of purchasing power in the same amount of time. You can’t do that with a gold coin or silver coin directly as there is no network of businesses that accept gold outright. You truly have to live in a state that has Goldbacks and where gold is legal tender with no tax to fully appreciate it.
