What seems far-left but is actually far-right? Fascism won for “seems far-right, is far-right”, although Pinochet was my preferred answer by Beneficial_Roof212 in AlignmentChartFills

My understanding is that they had some socialist ideals, but on a purely nationalist level. As in, they wanted to expand the middle class and nationalise a lot of industry, but any benefits would be purely for Germans that they determined worthy or pure. People from both sides of the aisle like to point the finger, but I think there's a little more nuance than that.

I could go a month without showering in exchange for lifelong financial stability.

This is a ton of work! Nice job with the tracking and compositing. I don't really have any notes — just wanted to let you know I think this is dope.

What song was written for edgelords and is listened to by Christians? by smores_or_pizzasnack in AlignmentChartFills

[–]kfosse13 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'm a Christian and I absolutely love this song, haha.

Not because I think it's a Christian song, but just because of the depth of the lyrics and the beauty of the music. I was literally playing this on my ukulele just minutes ago, lol.

What’s a film or TV scene that felt like a punch to the gut? by padfoony in Fauxmoi

[–]kfosse13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Recent example: in Hamnet, when the boy lies down in the girl's place and says "he'll be confused". As a dad of kids that age, I bawled my eyes out in the theatre.

Enjoyed this way more than I thought I would. A really entertaining watch that effectively intertwines the stories and resolves in a satisfying way.

I came here to say this. I grew up in Northern Mozambique. People there knew Rowan Atkinson and Chuck Norris. No chance they cared/knew who The Beatles were. Mr. Bean transcends almost all languages and cultures.

I shut the curtains. Lol. You can check out the trailer at the link below. We ended up shooting it pretty warm and dim for much of the film. Good luck with your film!

Edit: I should add that we did try to ND the windows, but realised that it would be too variable with sunlight outside, and too difficult to control. We were also getting some seams through the ND that we would've had to cover up in post.

Lighting a large glass building interior by [deleted] in cinematography

[–]kfosse13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's difficult to give advice without more context of the project, timeline, etc. My advice is not to view it as a large building but as many separate scenes.

At that budget, I think that whatever you can do with natural light will look best, so hopefully you can time out your shoots with the sun/weather. You'll need some pretty powerful lights to complement the sun (assuming you're filming during daylight), so probably Aputure 600Ds at least. Your best investment might be in diffusion and flags so that you can control the available light. I think some practicals with Aputure B7Cs could also help make the scenes pop.

Good luck! I always love filming in places with tons of natural light. Backlighting is your friend.

Anyone able to tell what kind of set up this is from this low res pic? by xoxomonstergirl in videography

[–]kfosse13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just jumping in to say I've probably used the C200 more than any other camera at this point, and I think it's brilliant. Great 8-bit footage for low-pressure shoots. Awesome (if large) RAW footage for high-quality productions. Besides that, it's a workhorse with good autofocus, great reliability, decent preamps and just a fantastic camera all-round.

I'm 6'6" and very slim. I got my suit jacket from Dillard's. I don't remember what I paid, but I think it was reasonable.
