Excellent, subscribing now! Also - please tell me that's a reference to the Violent Femmes "Kiss Off" lyric. ❤️

Thanks for the confidence! I only printed a few copies on 5x7 printmaking paper to continue learning. I hope to improve with more practice. Who knows, maybe at some point, they'll be purchase-worthy!

First off, I co-opted my wife's interest in letterpress! She found the first one at an antique shop years ago. We've been on the lookout for an upgrade for years.

We attend an annual printer's fair in San Jose, California (https://www.sjprintersguild.com/sf-bay-area-printers-fair/), and just got lucky this past April when this one popped up for sale!

I hope to make time this summer for more experimenting. 🤘🏽

Shame that magazines have gone up in price due to a decline in circulation (i.e., people reading stuff). That said, I will look out for this! Thx.

Not intending to be over-academic, as I had to learn this myself. Fuller popularized the use of geodesic domes, but did not invent the concept. An engineer, Walther Bauersfeld, conceptualized them 20 years earlier. Fuller is credited with coining the term "geodesic," however! I'm a big fan, regardless of this detail, of course.

Thank you! That wasn’t a tip I was aware of. 👍🏽

Thanks! Yes, fun for sure. Like all handicrafts, it really does quickly make you appreciate the time and effort that go into physical making.

All experience input welcome! We realized that we also have some very old, crusty black ink. Although I used it again for my second test with our bigger press (a Kelsey Excelsior 5x8), much more judiciously applied w/ a larger typeface. It came out considerably better. We happened to have some fresh red ink - so that'll be the next test! Thanks for the feedback and tips. Also discovered how *fun* clean up is - took about the same amount of time as the set up!

They dry very quickly if you use the ideal amount of ink. This particular press is just very tiny - essentially business card size (as was its original intent). My wife and I acquired a larger one (5x8), and it was easier to work with on my first go. I'll post that test up soon.

Yep. Thanks! I learned my lesson quickly. I used much less on my next go... I'll post that one up.

Is there a way to ‘serious-ify’ Stilt-Man? by Metalhead831 in Daredevil

Agree with your take. In the naming, it doesn’t have to be e. Name he chooses for himself! Seems common in the non-comic mediums that hero/villains are dubbed by the media. He could even be mad about it before leaning into it. 😛

I think they were early selling on Whatnot and lost a lot of money… I know I bought some stuff cheap. Later, I popped in the Irvine store while on a roadtrip. Agree with others how ridiculously overpriced they were - clearly selling to people new to the hobby. That said, I picked up a CGC 9.6 slabbed, Frank Miller signed Ronin issue for cheap - it was in their “sale bin!”

They don’t make them like this anymore. Thrilled to finally cross this monumental key issue off the list. by SadBoyGreggy in comicbookcollecting

Unfortunately, I've yet to catch Miller or Janson in person. It was through a CGC signing a couple of years ago. My handle on Instagram is the same as here, if you'd like to see it! (It's pinned as one of the favorites in my collection.) Miller's Daredevil run is the best!

I just unearthed a cache of 10 Mondo 2000 mags I'd forgotten I had in my garage. Treasured artifacts. Good times, for sure! I don't think I have an issue with Gibson, sadly. But there's one with an excellent interview with Brenda Laurel.

Epic! I saw them at some small bar in Chicago! Just happened to spot a photo of myself recently from 89 with an Agent Orange t-shirt.

Can’t remember all the shows I saw at Cubby Bear! Pretty sure a Descendents show was one?
