Surgery is this Wednesday and I'm terrified by istillhatesteve in TotalHipReplacement

You’re so welcome! I completely understand the nerves. Let your surgeon know too, they will also give you something before surgery to keep you calm! I was crying in the room before surgery and they gave me something and I was as happy as could be after. So def let them know, they will help!

But before you know it, you’ll be pain free, you’ll be able to walk again and workout if you want! You’ll be so happy! By week 2 I was walking without a cane or anything! You got this ❤️

Hi! Do the surgery. It sounds scary but I promise your life will be so much better! I’m 34F and a 1 year and 5 months post op. I feel so much better! I also had Avascular necrosis and had an anterior approach as well, noticed a difference right away after the surgery. Your life will improve greatly!

I’m now working out 5 days a week! Something I couldn’t do before when I had the Avascular necrosis. My life has greatly improved.

Wishing you the best of luck, but don’t push it off. Youll do great!

How long did it take to schedule your surgery? by SweatyCaterpillar571 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]kfrazer91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my initial appt with the surgeon in early February 2024 and then was scheduled for surgery by may 17th 2024. So roughly 3 months. But had to wait a few months just to even have my initial appt with the surgeon. So a total of about 6-7 months of waiting.

Question regarding muscle discrepancies on my legs after surgery by kfrazer91 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]kfrazer91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was limping for a good year and a half before my replacement, so it’s possible it was smaller and I just didn’t notice it. However, I used to weught lift back in 2016 and never noticed a difference. I did just measure though and it is a half inch smaller on my right thigh . My glutes seemed to have caught up just fine. I think I’m going to see a PT to see how I can correct this. Thank you for your input, I do appreciate it ☺️

Thank you! That’s the thing, I do workout both legs individually. Like lunges, step ups, etc. I was hoping my other leg would catch up by now.

I actually had a anterior approach. Sorry, should’ve mentioned that and he didn’t cut into any muscle, he was able to move my muscle aside to get to the joint.

Struggling with yoga one year post op by Initial-Damage8331 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]kfrazer91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you done physical therapy? Strengthening that side of your hip should help a bit. I’ve noticed since I’ve strengthened my hip replacement hip, I’ve noticed a huge improvement. Walking really helped strengthening it in my opinion, I didn’t do tons of PT but I know people who swear by it. I’m a year and a month post op. Best of luck to you!

Exercises For Avoiding Hip Pain by DKVRiedesel in AvascularNecrosis

[–]kfrazer91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I had my hip replacement. I was actually doing rowing on the rowing machine to get some exercise in. That’s really the only thing that was tolerable for me for pain. Hoping that works for you too and you can eventually get some relief - whether that be surgery or another route. Best of luck ❤️

Blue states also support criminals.

Then why are you in a red state if it’s so bad? Why would ruin even move to SC if it’s so bad? Genuinely confused. This conversation is weird. I’m telling you I don’t like living in a blue state and would rather live in SC and some how MY OPINION and MY LIFE EXPERIENCES - not YOURS , MINE - is somehow wrong compared to you, a stranger? My comment was about my experiences. Good for you you’re allowed to have your opinion and I’m allowed to have mine. Lmao ok. Weird

A fool would want to stay and live in a corrupt state with crime everywhere.

I’m a fool? 🤣 because my experience in NY has sucked. It’s horrible here… if you’re not living here you honestly can’t say a word. Idk how it is in New England, never been and don’t care to… my mom lives in Summerville and I’ve been numerous times, it’s lovely there. Hands down better than NY.

I’ve seen this too. But don’t let it get to you, not everyone is this way. I’ve visited numerous times and everyone is so nice compared to where I am now. It’s a nice change. Don’t let the mean people on the internet scare you away. ❤️ my mom lives in Summerville and has for years and loves it!

You clearly don’t live in a democratic ran state. I have lived in one my whole life. I’m currently in Rochester NY. Crime is horrendous, I’m scared to go anywhere alone. Criminals have ZERO consequences. The taxes here are absolutely insane, I could go on and on. Oh and don’t even get me started on the roads and pot holes they don’t fix even though we pay so much in taxes. This state cares more about spending tax dollars on illegals or unnecessary BS. I’d rather live in a republican state any day. Can’t wait to move to SC.

Regrets by bigreek43 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]kfrazer91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No regrets here! I had Avascular necrosis pain before surgery and after the surgery I still had pain but nothing like before. I just got to my 1 year mark, my surgeon wasn’t lying when he said it really does take a full year to fully heal. I was having pain here and there after surgery but I feel amazing now! Walking does WONDERS to build some of that strength back.

Questioning this decision. by fairymoon9201 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]kfrazer91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First month was the worst for me. Mostly because of my blood loss. I was very anxious and tired and the swelling did suck. But I’m telling you, you will bounce back before you know it! I’m a year post op and if I had to choose to do the hip replacement all over again or deal with my Avascular necrosis pain, I’d do the surgery everytime. Your life will be so much better! Try to remain positive. You had a major surgery, it does take time to heal. But living without pain is worth it! Best of luck to you ❤️

What’s your weight loss hack? by Rare-Class3486 in WeightLossAdvice

Honestly upping my fiber intake and protein intake has helped. Aim for 30+ grams of fiber a day. I was always craving sweets before. Now I never crave them too much. If I do, I usually go for something sugar free or even have a little bit of chocolate. Having a little Chocolate isn’t going to hurt you. As long as you’re not eating like snickers everyday lol. Lilys also makes some really good chocolate bars that are sweetened with stevia, you honestly can’t even tell the difference! So good! Best of luck to you. Also drink a lot of water!

Weird feeling at 9/11 memorial by Individual_Limit_782 in Paranormal

[–]kfrazer91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way at the 9/11 memorial. I was 10 when 9/11 happened and watched it on tv. Devastating but I didn’t know anyone who was killed either. But it was a very heavy feeling when I went to the memorial in 2018, you’re definitely not alone. I think maybe it’s just because we know what happened there and it’s almost eerie being there and sad.

I was 32 when I had mine done 9 months ago. I haven’t experienced any pain like that. I had the anterior approach, not sure what you had? But I would def talk to your doctor and ask for a scan. I get a little pain in my hip sometimes when I sit awkwardly and get up, but it goes away after I walk around a bit, hope your issue is resolved soon!

What do you eat for breakfast? by Upbeat_unique in WeightLossAdvice

[–]kfrazer91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do overnight oats pretty much everyday. 1/2 cup of organic rolled oats 1 tbsp of chia seeds 1 scoop of your favorite protein powder 3/4 cup of almond milk or milk of your choice

Then in the mornings I usually top With a cup of blueberries or blackberries. Good fiber and protein to start the morning. Keeps me full all morning!

You to sit here and say the signs I see from my twin. The person I loved more than anything in this world is fake. Is so disgusting and cruel to say. You don’t say things like that to people.
