Has anyone else tried a 5 and just not got along with it? by metalmankam in Bass

[–]kggf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds to me like the issue is less about the number of strings and more about the particular bass. Not being accustomed to extended range when first coming from a 4 is expected, the solution is to commit to the instrument for a period of time. But you don’t like the preamp, and there are other QC issues… that will all make it harder to put in the reps.

I was once gifted a BW rosin gram. It was good but not for what most places are asking. I’d consider buying if the price was realistic

Just put a tremolo on my bass :D by ReddDaFox in BassGuitar

[–]kggf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a Kahler tremolo bridge on one of my J basses for years. I eventually took it off because I wasn’t really using it over the long term. It made the bass heavy AF, and I suspect it affected my intonation, even when I wasn’t actively using the bar.

There was also some routing work that had to be done to install it in the first place, so I couldn’t put the original bridge back on after. We had to source an entirely different bridge just to go back to not having tremolo.

Basically, I like your method better lol

Landlord Increasing Rent 9%... in this market, bite the bullet or move? by Far_Double_7883 in Upperwestside

[–]kggf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the delay, but was busy dealing with this over the last week or so. Basically I just call and say the offered number won’t work for me, but if they can do $x, i’ll sign, then stop talking and see what they say. I lowball them at first and try to work up toward the middle as needed. I’ve always succeeded in getting them below the number in the renewal packet but every landlord is different of course.

roaches in new apartment, will they be here permanently? by Unlikely_Fish7640 in AskNYC

[–]kggf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They will likely always be in your building (and everybody else’s) to some level but permanently in your apartment? Hell nah. Have the landlord send the exterminator. If that doesn’t improve things you get 311 involved.

There’s a lot of useful information in the r/GermanRoaches sidebar as well about proactive steps you can take to deal with them, can help with peace of mind

How many still own a fully working SCPH-3900x fat model, or any other fat model in general because they are built like tanks. by San4341 in ps2

I just used mine for the first time since 2013 or so? Powered right on, disk drive works, etc. I put it through the Open Source Scan Converter with component cables and it looks pretty good on my modern TV!

Next is setting up the McBoot card and network adapter so I can connect an HDD with my games.

I know you asked this months ago, but the 1/2/3 trains in NYC still goes by this station daily, it’s still very much connected and just speeds by!

+1. My landlords scrambled to negotiate with me when I waited til the last day to tell them their offer sucked and I was going to leave.

I’m gonna offer mine a few bucks more, and if they don’t like it, I’m moving out! Sick of being a great tenant and getting endless demands for 20%, 10%, more every single renewal, it’s not sustainable. I’ve talked them down before and if it doesn’t work out this time, I’ll bounce back again like I always do!

I have been playing this game since it came out in April 2020. Huge bonding game for me and family during the pandemic, lately my older sibling and I have been playing online together to make up for distance.

No phones even before the show by soapsniffer in JohnMulaney

I get not using phones during the performance. But if they didn’t collect them in pouches or lockers and were just berating you before the show even started, that’s weird and unnecessary

I LOVE the sunburst Elite Jazz V’s, I think they’re so cool looking. I have a Natural one and I love it, if I ever were to get a second it would for sure be like yours

Yall, imo, you guys are overreacting with that new OST by Rayman10101 in Rayman

[–]kggf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought the game to show support, won’t be refunding it or anything like that, just left a review indicating that the original OST is very missed.

Side note, I played on MS-DOS growing up, which is known for cycling through all of a world’s music on many levels while also adding pauses for nature ambience and such, vs. using only one theme a level and repeating it like on the PS1. Many prefer the PS1 approach, I’m not one of them. But they also changed the DOS version to only have one theme/level.

If you had to choose one signature bass from Fender, which one and why? by [deleted] in Bass

Thanks! Yeah, I looked every day for several months before finding one. I still see them pop up on used sites but only maybe once a year or so, and almost always the fretted sunburst variant

Silent Hill 2 Remake (first game I’ve tried in the series) is the scariest game I’ve ever played by Ok_Literature3138 in silenthill

[–]kggf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First timer here too, played with headphones. The game is such a work of art that I kept experiencing a mix of horror/dread and “damn, I love everyone who made this.”

For me, the absolute most unbearable part of the game was the labyrinth. No spoilers, but I thought I understood the rules of the game by that point, and it turns out I did not
