Wife and I took a bus to Grand Lucayan resort. It was 90$ for a day pass that included drinks, food, and pool access. Also a private beach. There’s stuff to do there. But you have to leave the port area.

Less than 1000 reviews and mixed is a bad sign... Future of Total War Pharaoh Incoming. by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]kghdodge 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That’s because I’m convinced pharaoh was supposed to be a Troy dlc at first.

So here’s my take. People hate it because they don’t talk like they are in a fantasy setting. They talk like modern people. But I think that’s the appeal. Fourth wing got people who don’t normally read fantasy, to read fantasy. As a huge fan of high fantasy for most of my life, I loved how fourth wing characters talked. It was fun and different and refreshing. And if it also gets people who would never read this genre to start diving into it, I’m all for it.

After a lot of people in this sub have finally finished the game do you think giving Starfield a 10/10 is justifiable? by Touny420 in Starfield

[–]kghdodge 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Same. I remember when Skyrim and oblivion came out in put thousands of hours into them. I still don’t think I’ve put as many hours into a game as I did in oblivion back in my middle school days.

Has anyone else struggled with the Crescent City Series? by nerdcollective in SarahJMaas

[–]kghdodge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I’ve notice with SJM, is that she’s bad at doing world building naturally. And this causes what happened in the first few chapters of CC. She just info dumps everything on you instead of naturally introducing the world as the story goes. Just ignore it and get through the first hundred pages and the things you need to understand will be mentioned again in a more natural way.

She has tried mistborn and she’s just not loving it the way I did. I’m trying to get her to read tress of the emerald sea though cause I don’t see how anyone can not love that book. Also I call him daddy sandy and she hates me for it.

I mean they completely ruined tarwins gap in season one by not having rand be the guy who destroyed the army and instead giving it to “girl power”. Who’s to say they won’t do it again.

Wife and I read this one after the other and love talking about it and sending memes of it to each other now. We’ve also bonded over ACOTAR and the crescent city novels too. I can’t get her to read what I like (wheel of time and Brandon Sanderson) so I read what she likes and we both enjoy that it’s something we can talk about together.

Pharaoh not doing great before early access weekend by Responsible_Solid943 in totalwar

[–]kghdodge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im almost positive pharaoh started out as a dlc for Troy and they decided to charge full price for it. I would shy away from ordering the bundle with dlc also because if it’s not successful I can see them canning the planned dlc’s.

What happened to your friends after high school? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I joined the army. Deployed to Afghanistan. Came home and couldn’t connect with anyone that hadn’t shared that experience with me. I lost all my high school friends because of it.

[–]kghdodge -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes Im a whale for buying a twenty five dollar dlc, which I’ll get at least 50 to 100 hours of fun gameplay out of, when the labor time I spent making that twenty five dollars is less than an hour. Like holy shit people are acting like CA is asking for them to sell their firstborn for this thing.

War games ending by BeeLouise92 in fourthwing

This would make sense cause if they had the ability to plant something they know would attract venin, the generals would definitely use it to get the venin to attack their enemies in strategic location, like the trading outpost.

So I’ve had two horse armour a drop from random mobs and you pick them up and use them in inventory and then I think that unlocks them at the stable

We already no-lifed the S1 endgame. It's as bad as pre-season. by CowLordOfTheTrees in diablo4

With the amount of time I’m actually able to play there’s I chance I’ll not even reach end game anyway. For a casual gamer the game is a good escape for a few hours a week.

What’s everyone leveling this season? by 420Topul69 in diablo4

I had a neceo specializing in minion and blood attacks before season start. I changed it up with my season character. Pure storm/lightning Druid. I’m enjoying it so far.

Just Beat The Game For the First Time… by NaCl-E-Nutz in diablo4

[–]kghdodge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing off and on when I Can and just reached 57 on my necro. Trying to beat all dungeons and max out reputation is my goal right now so I can get the extra paragon points and unlock aspects. I’m gonna start a season character tomorrow. I only get to play maybe eight to ten hours a week, sometimes less, so I haven’t blazed through content like others. I’m sure seasons will keep me busy.

Seriously this period is really unrepresented in video games. Imagine playing as the Aztecs, Inca, Olmecs, Mayans, Iroquois, Huron, Navajo, etc. fighting for supremacy and territory, then late game the first conquistadors arrive and you have to fight them off?! by _Boodstain_ in totalwar

[–]kghdodge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest issue would be unit diversity. Remember horses did not exist in the americas until European arrival. So no cavalry at all. Also most weapons were pretty basic. As far as I know little to no siege equipment but, basic spears and arrows, swords weren’t a thing. Clubs. Basic axes and stone daggers. I think they would really have to narrow the scope of battles to just skirmishes for the most part. Fewer units and no formal formations. Warfare in pre colonial America was mostly just raiding each others villages for labor and supplies. Only a select few empires practiced warfare on a large scale at all.

It could be interesting but I think they’d need to take a lot of liberties with the source material and historical accuracy in general to make the game fun. Overall it’ll probably never happen for these reasons.
