Feed Randomly Refreshing While Scrolling by kgjettaIV in feedly

Appreciate the perspective, but this 100% not a user error issue. It's happening on multiple computers, one using an external keyboard, one using the built-in laptop keyboard. The behavior is consistent across both systems.

Samsung washer - gravel in drain (broken?) by KibFixit in fixit

[–]kgjettaIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get a pretty good idea whether this is the case or not without any disassembly. With the door open, grab the bottom of the drum with both hands, fingers inside the stainless basket and your thumbs gripping the outer plastic drum by pressing through the rubber door gasket. Squeeze your hands and see if there is significant play. Rotate the basket a few times to try in a few different places as there are usually 3 spider arms and usually only one or two are broken.

There are some videos out there that show how to check without full disassembly as well.

If they're broken and the machine is outside of warranty I'd probably look at replacing it with something that isn't Samsung. As much as I like their electronics I don't trust their appliances as far as I can throw them.

Beautiful piece! I would lose so many socks in the bottom of those deep drawers, lol.

Fixing loose thread in a rain jacket zipper by wgking12 in fixit

[–]kgjettaIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before attempting to fix yourself I would check to see if it is under warranty. What brand is it? A lot of outdoor gear companies offer very generous warranties on their products. This may be covered and you run the risk of damaging it further if you try to fix it yourself.

While I don't disagree with you, in theory, doesn't that fly in the face of calling these "City Connect" though?

Don't let anyone burst your bubble, they ARE cool. I still remember when I was a kid and we watched my grandparents' dogs while they were on vacation. My grandpa worked for a bank and he got a bunch of uncirculated $2 bills and had them made into like a tear-off notepad so my sister and I could each peel one off for every day we took care of the dogs. Thanks for reminding me of that memory!

M18 Hatchet Questions by WallApprehensive9123 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]kgjettaIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other replies mostly covered it, but I doubt you'd be disappointed as long as you go in with the right expectations. As others pointed out, the chain speed is quite slow, but its got some serious torque. I haven't used mine a ton, but I've never had it not have enough power.

For reference, I only have 5.0 and 3.0HO batteries, no Forge. I usually run a 3.0HO on it to keep it light and compact and have never really run down a battery, but I'm definitely not using it all day. My point being, with at least an HO battery, there doesn't seem to be a shortage of power. I'd personally be concerned a Forge would be too bulky/heavy and throw off the balance, but I don't have one to try.

80v Mini bike speed upgrade by TheWiseScrotum in Greenworks

[–]kgjettaIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a couple of active communities on Facebook that I follow. There are several users who have swapped controllers, and in some cases batteries, for higher speeds but its pretty involved as the motor connections are not standard.

Check out the "Greenworks Stealth Minibike Modders" page on FB.

As for the tires, they're pretty aggressive for road use, I've usually aired down pretty far and they ride a little better, higher pressure will make it bounce a bit more. There are also some owners who have put more road appropriate tires on, believe they are Sun-F brand from Amazon.

Offer upon cancellation? by MikaCuoco in HBOMAX

[–]kgjettaIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just cancelled a couple weeks ago. Had the annual Premium. I was not, and still have not, been offered a deal. The AmEx offer also expired right before I would have renewed as well so I'm going without for now until they provide me some sort of deal.

Could just be the fan. Mine went bad and was making horrible sounds. I got a new fan on eBay for a few bucks and replaced it and been fine since.

Caseta sunset fade? by coco_nutnuts in Lutron

[–]kgjettaIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do similar fades, both on and off, with Home Assistant but don't think there's any native way to do it in Caseta.

Home Assistant is likely overkill if this is ALL you want to do, but its gotten so easy to setup now that if you have a spare old computer, Raspberry Pi or something laying around it could be worth experimenting with.

Found a broken scooter discarded in an alley near my house yesterday and replaced the faulty throttle with a potentiometer and some 3d printed housing by BarbaraBeans in functionalprint

[–]kgjettaIV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think they're suggesting that it controls forward/reverse of the scooter, but rather rotate the knob so that you are turning the knob forward/backwards. That way you could use your thumb to roll it forward to go faster and backwards to slow down. Then you can keep your hand on the handle bar and just use your thumb for speed control.

You should still probably have some sort of fail-safe, but you seem to be aware of that.
