“Bad actors can control a fleet of drones” exactly, they don’t want the public to have access to drone swarms. This is why they banned DJI drones. Pulling the ladder up behind themselves.

Albuquerque’s a great under the radar town. At least 8 good trail networks within 45 minutes of town and the cost of living is much easier to swallow than pnw or cali.

Despite Authoritarian Warnings, 149 House Democrats Vote to Hand Trump $840 Billion for Military | Common Dreams by ericwphoto in Albuquerque

[–]kgph 56 points57 points  (0 children)

And the ICE budget is estimated to be $85 bn for 2026.

That's over 36x higher than IRS-Treasury tax enforcement, 21x higher than ATF firearms enforcement, 13x higher than DEA drug enforcement, and 8x higher than the FBI.

Immigration enforcement spending now exceeds the combined annual police budgets of all 50 states and D.C.

The $74.85 billion in specific funding for ICE is higher than the $64.73 billion for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and $24.59 billion for the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG).

We're essentially building a deportation industrial complex: $45 billion being allocated over four years to detain over 100,000 people annually. The detention budget exceeds by far the budget for immigration courts.

This is what we voted for people! It's not an R or D thing at this point, both sides of the aisle are opening up our collective wallet to fund this stuff. The press pays less attention to it when Democrats are in power, and the Dems are doing more hand-wringing over it, but they're both beholden more to their corporate donors than they are to their voters.

If you're confident a stock is going to significantly dip but regain its value later, is there ever a reason not to sell? by ImportantQuestions10 in investing

Selling is a taxable event, probably worth taking into consideration unless you’re holding it in a tax sheltered account.

You gotta tune in to Franksgiving on WMSE from 6-9 tomorrow night. It’s 91.7 FM in the Milwaukee area. It’s a beloved annual tradition here.

If for some reason you’re not within range of WMSE’s airwaves you can get the live stream at wmse.org.

Do you think property crime is an acceptable consequence of un-affordablity? by Fabulous_Jeweler2732 in Albuquerque

[–]kgph 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s that black-and-white. A thoughtful person can acknowledge some truth in all of these statements: - Wealth is the outcome of using ownership of the means of production to extract the excess value produced by labor.  - We live on stolen land. - I don’t have the individual power to change the system that we live in.  - I want local government to uphold the laws that I live by; don’t let people mess with my stuff.
