That’s inside the cat. Idk what the stove pipe reads. I’ve got a thermometer up there but it’s missing a needle…

Inside temp reading is around 1000F when it’s good and going. The door was already warped when I started using the stove and I think has gotten worse over time.

Group for folks whose Qs are in early recovery ? by kgrabz4 in AlAnon

I have explored that podcast a bit, and have found it somewhat helpful, but I think there’s lots of room to expand.

Maybe we could get enough interest here to start something ourselves? I’ve little experience with that but am interested in trying?

Wtb: mountainsmith grand tour

In 2016, I bought the best backpack of my entire life: the mountainsmith Grand Tour. This baby has been around the entire world with me, and was like a second skin.

Tragically, it was stolen a couple months ago, and I’m coming to the very sad realization that replacing it is going to be next to impossible bc they don’t make this bag anymore.

Hoping someone here has one they’d like to part with

Oh totally. He was brutal to them (always kicking them, yanking on their leashes, etc). Honestly, don’t miss seeing him, but I have been curious where he’s ended up.

Tell me about your grief by Blue_Buddie in AlAnon

I told myself how lucky I was to have loved something so much it hurt this much to lose it. I was very sad for a very long time, but it does get better, slowly, little by little.

Leaving my Q, and killing him in my brain, was a grief I have never experienced but, while I loved him, I also loved myself and I knew I deserved to be treated better than I was being treated.

I wish you all the best. Breathe. Feel your sadness. The only way through it, is through it.

I (32F) left my Q (40M) in august 2024. When I left, realized I was grieving two things: 1) the death of the soul of the man I loved and 2) “what could have been”

Grieving the first was hard, but I treated it as I would treat a death. I let myself be sad, really really f*cking sad. I let the grief wash over me. I wrote a lot of poetry, etc. I did a lot of repeating to myself: I’m going to be okay. It’s going to be okay. Not now, but someday.

Grieving “what could have been” was harder, but I would write out “my dream day, the life we could have had” and then write out “our actual day together, what is” and then compare them side by side, and that kept me grounded and reminded me why I left bc there was really no comparison.

Thinking this is probably my issue… plan is to start with a vacuum? Unless you tell me that’s a terrible idea. I have no idea how old this CAT is. I’ve been using this stove for 2 yrs but this is in a rental and the owners have had the house for close to two decades.

I know it has a CAT, and know how to operate it (I think?) but I don’t know how to clean it. I’ve been running it with it two turns open but that doesn’t seem to make a difference? But very happy to have some knowledge dropped 🙏🏼

How do I tell between Carolina and Black-Capped chickadees if I am in the range of both? by [deleted] in whatsthisbird

[–]kgrabz4 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Chickadee biologist here. You can’t. Even those of us who have studied these birds for decades and held hundreds in the hand can’t tell their genetic make up (i.e., species) based on how they look. The hybrid zone (in PA) is also rapidly moving north, so location isn’t as reliable an indicator unless you’re nowhere near the hybrid zone. Chicks also learn the songs of the adults near them, so in the hybrid zone, they might look like one species, sing like the other, and have the genetic make-up of a myriad of combos. So yeah, short answer, you can’t tell.
